On the news a couple of months ago. One of the ladies showed that wikipedia is easy to go in and change the words on it. So the stuff on there is not accurate. If the atheist are losing their best thinkers, maybe the Holy Spirit is changing their minds. They are seeing the truth.

Senility has a lot to do with some of them.
Others just didn't understand the arguments for atheism and weren't prepared for dealing with the logical fallacies of the religious.
But still, very few of them are people that would be considered to have been atheism's best thinkers (I'd call Anthony Flew one, although he's conversion to deism certainly seems to be without much reason and he seems to have contradicted himself a few times there).
Some of those who had been communists were probably just swapping the quasi-religion of communism with a real (though still false) religion.
There's also the fact that we haven't really lost many compared with how many we've gained from the religious (consider that non religion is growing while religion is shrinking).
Those who think that Wikipedia (or anything for that matter) has a complete list are very much deluded.

It comes down to the individual. If they believe in gods/deities then they obviously aren't atheists.
I don't really see why you bothered to bring it up, it's not like atheism is an organisation that actively seeks to convert and retain non-believers. People are free to believe whatever they want.

With the possible exception of C. S. Lewis it is not a very impressive list.

That's like 40 people!!! OMG atheism is dying!!!!
Although, 100,000 people abandon religion (go atheist) every year in the US alone. It's not called the fastest growing minority for nothing.

There are also lists of former religious people there too. They tend to be longer. People change. Our side still has Umberto Eco, so I feel secure.

Because they actually thought about their beliefs or had an encounter with God that made them realize that they were wrong
