My 16yr old son called us at work, crying. Sal's under the porch and he's hurt real bad. We rushed home and brought him to the vet. Our 3 yr old beagle died. The vet said he was hit by car. We brought him home, and buried him. It didn't make any sense. He's only gotten loose once here when we let him in the front door. He went out the back. He "beagled" it in the woods a couple hours ,and came home. This time a clasp came undone on his run, who knows how. My wife found a broken light on the dirt road in front of our mobile home. She asked the land lady if she knew anything. She said it was her son (38). Our dog, hit on our park rd. It's a 7mph speed limit. Its been two days now and not a word from him. Was kind of thinking he'd stop and say hes sorry and maybe explain to my wife what happened. So anyway, I saw him at his moms house today from afar. I dropped what I was doing and headed in that direction. He sped off Like, 30ish. That said alot. what should I do. Wife/ 3 Kids real sad.

Same thing happened to my ant, there are 3 things you need to do.
1. Get a camera that shows the date on the photo and take a pic of the front of his car and the broken light on the ground.

2. Keep a log of how often he comes into the park and in what state, like his approximate speed and if he appears mad, drunk, or happy be sure to note all moods to get an accurate speed look at this wed site there on sale for about 20$. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/814500/radar_gun_hacked/

3. tell a police or deputy officer of what your doing and have him document it as a public endangerment. It is public endangerment because you have small kids even the 16 year old can easily be hurt by a drunk driver. Don’t tell your land lady that your doing so she will tell her son.

When this happened to my ant there was a 40 year old man 6 lots down that would let out older folks little dogs tie them up then run them over with his truck. About 15 dogs where killed in 7 days it was all old people living in this park. The sets that I gave you our how the caught the man. He was drunk every time.

Good luck

Yes without doubt you are right, don't get pushed into things because of some of the idiots on the road. Have a look at that add on the TV where it states most people survive with accident at 30 mph. It is not clever to speed at anytime when its not safe to do so and remember the speed limit is the speed you can drive up to if its safe to do so and not the speed you should drive at. Have a safe drive some idiots would still want to pass you if you were doing fifty!

If you had fences you should check if there were any broken parts which would need fixing/replaced then I would buy another dog take the family to the park let the kids play with the dog then take them to dinner. Hope that helped.

What can you do? You can't make someone apologize or feel bad. Dog was in the wrong place at the wrong time. You risk getting tossed out of the trailerpark if you cause a scene. Be more careful next time, and know that you can't trust the kid.

So sorry for your loss.It hurts. There's nothing to do now,He knows what he did and the mom already told for peace of mind, she knew you would want to know. All you can do is forgive, and greive for your family member(dog). We don't always know why things happen the way they do.,especially when you did no wrong, its just a part of life too.Once again so sorry.Bless you.

The guy was probably going way over the speed limit,or he hit the dog on purpose.I don't know what you can do.I'm sorry for your loss, beagles are such great little dogs.

Just be cool about it and catch him when he's least expectant. by him running off like that when you headed his way proves he's guilty. a guilty conscience will always give itself up. He knows what he did and he knows that he should at least admit to his actions knowing you and your family would be kinda releived on knowing what went wrong.
Condolences and Comfort wishes from me. Sorry for your loss.

Not get another dog until you can keep it properly restrained. He may have hit your dog, but face the facts, the only one to blame is the one who failed to keep it on a leash or in a fence. I know it hurts, but I would rather see someone hit a dog than swerve to miss it and hit a kid. And if you want to get all snippy with them and the 7mph not being followed, be truthful with yourself first, bet you have gone faster than 7mph too.
