I have known this girl for a while now and her, her friends and even a couple of my friends that know her told me that she was 15. 2years younger than me not a big deal rite? but now i found out everyone lied to me and she is only 13. the reason they lied to me is because this girl didn't want me to not like her because of her age. I have hung out with her and she seems as though she is older than 16. everyone tells me "oh its just a number who cares" well i care actually because, To me it is very weird and maybe wrong. But im not going to just change my mind and say that i don't like her because i do like her. I knew i liked her before i found out her true age. It would be wrong to base all things i think about her on her age. SO is it wrong and should i tell her that it won't work or should i keep to the fact that she hasn't changed, and the fact that i like her hasn't really changed either only her age has? Lol sorry this one was so long but this is bugging the hell outta me:)

There is NO sexual desire in this case

I don't think it's "wrong" necessarily, as long as it's not a sexual relationship.

I can certainly see why you'd be uncomfortable with dating a 13-year-old, though. I mean, even if she does "seem" your age, you know (in a way that she can't) that there are 4 years of experience and massive change separating you. You can probably expect her to change a lot in the next couple years -- and more importantly, you're likely to change enough to outgrow her too. Even if it *weren't* considered so unusual for an 18 year old to be with a 14 year old, it seems likely that it could become weird.

And of course, there's just the superficial issue of just *having* a 13 year old girlfriend when you're 17. It just reflects badly on you, and although it's in a shallow & unimportant way, I think you're normal to be uncomfortable with it.

Anyway, the lies are kind of a red flag... aren't they? I mean, if all your friends felt it's a big enough deal to lie to your face about it, it's a big deal, at some level.

But if you're comfy with it and you're not having sex (because of statutory rape laws that may become problematic come your birthday), then it's not wrong -- could be worth a try. It's not unheard of for a 13 year old to be emotionally 3 years ahead of average.

It's going to be extremely hard to not have sex with her. And the more you see her the more likely you are to do the deed.

There is no sex worth going to jail for.

Most states say that if you have sex and there's more than 3 years separating your ages and one of you is under 16 (check the link below, 16 is for most states, all state laws differ, like in California it's 18) then it's a FELONY. Some states just a misdemeanor, better to check for yourself...

SEE YOU NEXT YEAR! xo EDIT: Oh, wait, I read the question. I think said "girl" should be allowed to date a bit before an arranged marriage like this. Something is not right here. Was the mother paid off? Does the girl have "issues" and this is the best her mom feels she can get? This just seems unsavory. Though, 100 years ago, such arrangements were common in the US. Sometimes the guys were much older.

Date? Maybe. Have sex with? - no - that would be a crime right now. Definitely check out the "age of consent" website, and tell all your guy friends too: if you have sex with a minor, you can go to jail and be forced to register as a sex offender. Be friends, but don't even think about a serious (i.e., sexual) relationship until you are both a whole lot older.

Yes. Very wrong. You're almost an adult-she's still a child. Forget the "age is only a number" BS. Are you kidding? The legal and moral ramifications are enormous. Stay away from her. You need to be the mature one and do what's right.

the only reason a 17 yr old would want anything to do with a 13 yr old is for sex..........and why shes way to young for you to be hanging out with, and not mature enough to handle a 17 yr old......now if her parents found out you would go to jail cause trust me if i had a 13 yr old and i found out she was hanging with a 17 yr old boy i would 1st kick the *** out of him and then have him arrested and sent to prison for molesting and raping my 13 yr old daughter, so if this doesnt change your mind and you find someone that is your age, then have a nice time in prison being someones *****

This is very wrong. It just proves that she is immature because she lied to you. mature girls dont lie.
