I have 2 cats (gizmo & princess) and I want to get rid of princess because she has a mouth infection, she needs to be fixed, a Urinary Tract Infection, she needs all of her shots, also she has had a miscarriage and the vet said she needed to be fixed asap or she could become ill or pass away. Also, I don't have the money to take her to the vet. She does not get along with other animals, other my dog and other cat. She was a stray and shes only about 1 year old. Princess needs more than I can give and I think that is the mature way to handle it because maybe someone else can get her the help she needs.Gizmo doesn't have any of these problems and gets along with other animals. I've also had gizmo longer. Besides I can only handle one cat. (Money wise). what would you do? Which cat would you get rid of? please help

Well, money-wise I would cancel my satellite TV, sell my cell phone, return the new car tires I'm gonna put on my car this weekend and get her healthy. Then I would look for another home for her or take her to a good shelter. But that's just me.

At rescues & Anti-Cruelty where I live:
Spay $10-$20
FVRCP booster shots $25
Rabies shot $15.

If Princess is that young of a cat, SOMEONE out there will adopt her if you take her to your local A.S.P.C.A. (they do not put animals asleep after so many days like some other animal shelters do) and sign her over to them. Tell them your situation, and their doctors can probably take care of her health problems, too. Just DON'T "get rid of her." The reason she was a stray or doesn't get along with other animals is probably because she doesn't feel good (I know I wouldn't if I had a mouth infection or UTI) or she was never treated decently by any previous owner she might have had, and your doing the same would just make matters worse for her. You stated you've had Gizmo longer, etc. --well, Princess can sense when she's not wanted. Would you get rid of a baby because he/she had a mouth infection, or urinary infection, or needed his/her baby shots? At only one year of age, Princess is STILL a baby, and I'll bet Gizmo got his/her shots, etc. Believe it or not, there ARE vets around who will agree to monthly payments on care they give to a person's pets. But, give her a chance at a decent life .

Take Princess to the SPCA where she can get the help she seems to need so badly and then be adopted out to somebody who can afford her care. It is very unfair to wait, do it now. What will happen if Gizmo gets sick?? Do the right thing, take her asap.

100% in agreement with Gymsock on this. You've used the phrase 'get rid of' several times in your question. The mature thing would be to find homes for both of your animals since you apparently don't have enough sense to have realized that two cats would be a strain on your budget in the first place.

I wouldn't judge you harshly for getting rid of Princess; you were thoughtful in the first place for taking in a stray. You cared for her as long as you could, but now she needs more than you can offer.

i think you are okay at this. its better than just putting her back out on the street. if you have to take her to the pound. as far as i know they give most pets shots and fix them before they adopt them back out.

You are wrong but money is tight everywhere. But at least if you give her up she might get some care but its doubtful. Most likely they will put her down.Thats so sad.
