I saw this show called "the weather in year 2100" on the Science Channel and the consequences are unimaginably devastating, for example, 2/3 of the Amazon will be a desert a century later. And I don't think the government is even realizing the potential effects on Earth 100 years later. So how could we cure a Global Warming? and What the hell are we doing right now to fix this problems? We're just letting it happen and watch it as it deteriorates.

The world will end on Dec 21, 2012, so it is really not an issue.

Well this is a huge topic in this day and age. I happen to be an Environmental Science and Policy major in my 3rd year. It does not make me an expert on the subject, but I have had the oppurtunity to discuss and address the issue. One thing is for certain, there is no question of the validity of the Global Warming phenomena. When Scientists come to a general consensus, it's considered a theory. Theories, despite what their name suggests, are suggestions that have been exhausted through experiments and debate. The question in this issue has to do with human involvement. Now from what scientists understand of the Ozone and the effects of the Sun on the planet etc... Human involvement seems pretty logical. Green house gases include CO2, Methane, water vapor, etc... CO2 is produced at an unnatural rate by humans. Recent study has suggested that Methane is a much more powerful green house gas, but it's still the CO2 that is our contribution. Not only do we produce a lot of CO2, but we clear away a significant amount of trees on our biosphere as well... Most of us know that trees consume CO2 and convert it to oxygen. What bothers me most is ignorant people trying to argue that Global Warming is a lie, or insignificant. That's not even the debate in the Scientific community. The debate is past, even, if humans are involved in accelerating the rate. There have been "warming periods" in our distant geological past according to geological studies. I don't need Al Gore with his power point presentation to convince me that humans don't have an affect on THIS warming. "Are we past the threshold?" is the question. This is very hard to answer. In my opinion, anything is possible. With the accepted knowledge of what's going on, and by weeding out the morons in power that resist the problem, I believe a solution can be met. I personally think by doing your part to conserve energy and the looong list of suggested actions is a good way to start. It may not do much in the bigger scale of things, but it can't hurt to slow things down if possible. Besides, is it really that back breaking, does it take too many of your conveniences away? If this thing is going to take us by storm, then we (as a species) will probably do what we always do. Wait till it's blowing up in our face, and react to it (can anyone say Katrina?). Actually this is more of a national thing than a species thing, humans tend to anticipate relatively often except when there is a goverment involved to keep anticipation at bay. Anyways, some kind of technology, or scientific break-through, may be what we are looking for here. We may find a way to repair the ozone, we may find a way to neutralize the CO2 we produce, we may be visited by aliens and produce trans-warp technology and fly off to another planet and learn from our mistakes. All of this may seem crazy, but try traveling back to the 19th century and telling them that in the next century, during the next generation even, we will be riding around in mechanical boxes that cruise at speeds greater than a horse. They would probably react the same to any of the suggestions I have just made. Do your part!!! This earth is precious, and fragile, just like we are!!!

We can slow it down by reducing emissions (electricity production is the single biggest source of CO2 and nuclear power can provide what we need without CO2 emissions right now) and stop it from getting worse by really reducing emissions (we'll need some new technology for the second though it's pretty near term).

Curing it could be done by removing CO2 from the atmosphere and burying it in old oil wells, by putting a big filter between the Earth and the Sun or by putting extra particulates in the atmosphere (cheapest but the effects might not be too good).

Note to Chris H: The mystery has been solved and has been solved for some time, we are causing all of it.

Opinions about global warming are like rectums, everyone has one; unfortunately, few agree on what to do. At one end, the theory is to stop all burning of fossil fuel. The other extreme says it won't matter. Ice ages are a natural cycle and we can't stop it. Everyone wants a cure, as long as they don't have to give anything up. Give us SUVs, more energy, and consumer goods. Governments rarely "fix" anything. They are about promises broken and getting more power and wealth. A good example is the manufacturing of renewable energy, or ethanol. Yes it's possible, just look at Brazil, but unlike Brazil, where they used throw away sugar cane waste, the US is pushing the use of corn to produce ethanol, with disastrous effects on our economy. Common sense says you don't use a basic food staple to make energy, especially when there are cheaper and more efficient alternatives. But then, that's how you get the farmer's votes, raise corn prices!

The cures to Global Warming and the prevention of global disasters connected with global warming depend on how fast the new industries that are being created to address this issue can grow. There are many things people all over the world are doing to prevent further disasters. If these efforts can grow, and grow fast enough, global warming can be slowed, and perhaps even reversed.

We all can do our part but,for everybody to do so is near impossible. The Republican party is in serious denial about it but, act like they care to get the votes away from the democrats. But, if government actually really truly worked together for once, things could be accomplished. It all boils down to greed, ignorance, denial, & politicians taking payoffs. It is gonna take one hell of a wake up call for the other side to finally step up to the plate. The big tobacco companies paid off government for years to keep their mouth shut, and their is not anything different about the enviroment issue. Government was on the side of big tobacco untill so many people was getting cancer that they could not deny it anymore. So, now instead of being for them, they are against them. making more money now than they did before. Besides the near impossible challange of getting the corrupt officials out of power for good, each individual can make a difference. Change the lightbulbs in your house to a more efficient bulb, only fill up your car later in the evening, buy a hybrid, solar power, wind power, hydrogen cells, hydro power, the list goes on & on. You can start by reading Mother Earth News magazine,& others as well that deal with off grid living. Even if nobody was green, and their was no such thing as global warming people are crazy to make the oil gods that much richer!!!! How in the heck do we benefit while their wallets are getting bigger by the second? I bet no politician ever has to dig for change to fuel up their lemo,or jet!!! But, we have to be really carefull about what we hear from our leaders because they will promise anything to get in office. It's sad that not only do we have to pay out the butt in gas to get to work but, have to put up with all the brainwashed retards that don't mind throwing money away but, they are too stupid to realize that they are victims too!!! If Thomas Edison was alive today even he would go green, then again many doubted his ideas then like the idiots do today. We are the greatest country in the world, with the most brilliant minds and the smallest voices. Take that Rush Limbaugh !!!

Their is no cure because global warming is a natural cycle caused by the sun. The earth has been cooling and warming for millions of years. Also, other planets are warming in our solar system as well.

The show's a crock, no-one knows what will be in 2100.
We honestly don't know enough about climate change in general to much such sweeping predictions.
