I want to change my last name because I feel discriminated. I want to get ahead academically and professionally. I was thinking of changing my last name to Kennedy but was not sure if I should. Since my current last name begins with an A, I wanted an last name that begins with an A. If not, then I would appreciate all suggestions for a good, meaningful, Caucasian/Anglo name.

Thanks

Steve

Depending on where you live, it should be a simple matter to change your name by deed poll.

If you put these words into a search engine, you will get heaps of results.

"name change by deed poll" followed by the place where you live.

You must be over 18.

Good surnames starting with A are:

Alexander
Abbott
Abel
Aitken
Adam
Addis
Adderley
Abraham
Amherst
Arden
Aspendale

I hope this helps

Anderson, Andrews, Atkinson...hmmm....I think the first ones my choice. I don't know. I have always wanted to change name too. But, my married name. i would like to just add a letter & take away one. Because everyone thinks it's spelled that way, and pronounces it that way or worse. But, can't do that, I married into it. Good luck! :)

Second time to answer this question:

Last name suggestions: Adams, Anderson, Austin, Allen, Arnold, Atkinson, Appleby, Adderly, Andrews or Astor. Say your first name and see how it sounds with one of these.

Maybe this question would make more sense if we knew what your last name was, or why you feel discriminated.

I don't see how someone can discriminate you because of your name, and I say, you leave it as it is.

man not kennedy. that is bad name. in fact if you read the story about Ted Kennedy and his bout with a river near his families home you would never even think this. anderson is good name for you.

If you're going for academic gravitas, I'd try:

Ampere
Cavendish
Churchill
Copernicus
Curie
Huxley
Kelvin
Kepler
Nobel

...or the old American nobility standards, Bouvier, McKinley, Rothschild, Rockefeller and Roosevelt

No reason you can't go for broke.

"Americanize" your current last name. Don't change it completely. Spell it phonetically. Look up it's meaning and choose a synonym. I'm willing to help if you will tell us your current last name.
