The day sadly celebrates where the United States entered into the terror and where thousands of people died in the collapse of the World Trade Center to New York is marked by testimonies retrieving the presence of the man phalène nearby of the places of the drama. An astonishing photo of the creature even was taken by the photographer Steven Moran, that covered a shooting of the chain WTC and took to this instant on Greenwich Street of the clichés of the operations of relief after the attempts. The experts did not be able to this day to confirm or invalidate the cliché authenticity.

Many events come to disrupt the quietness of the inhabitants of the region: Activities of OVNI, of the meet strange, strange movements of type poltergeist. The homme-papillon or man phalène, mysterious winged creature that would have been observed in several countries, appears uniformly to the inhabitants of Not at all Pleasant in the State of the Western Virginia, to the United States. Known besides Atlantic under the name of Mothman, this photographed creature to some returns seems to appear during the last instants preceding a catastrophe.

late in the night, two young Mothman, THE man butterfly, 13-nov-2003

Married couples of Not at all Pleasant, Roger and Linda Scarberry as well as Steve and Mary Suitcase, went out to take a walk by car. They passed in front of a factory of manufacture of TNT to about 11 kilometers to the exterior one of Not at all Pleasant, when they aperçurent two strange red glimmers in obscurity, next to an old close reservoir of the fence of the factory. They stopped themselves and were impressed to see that it was a matter of brilliant eyes originating obviously of a big animal, "of human form, but bigger, maybe seven feet of height (2m10 about); with of big folded back wings on the back", according to Roger Scarberry. Terrified, the two couples took the escape heading for the Road 62. While taking the exit, they turn again the creature, that was held on the road shoulder. She separated its wings and flew away itself, while taking in hunt the automobile. The witnesses asserted to have attempted to take speed it "thing" in rolling to the speed of 100 miles an hour (about 160 km/o'clock), but unsuccessfully: the creature followed them always closely and "did not beat almost wings", according to their testimony. When they approached the city, the creature disappeared. They went then to the palace of justice of Mason County and related their history to the representative Millard Halstead, that, questioned later, would have declared: "I know these children since a long time. They never had problem with justice and they really were frightened that night. I took them to the serious one".

December 15 1967, the expressway 35 linking up Not at all Pleasant, (Virginia) and Kanauga, (Ohio) close of the place of the apparitions, collapses in the river Ohio, killing 46 persons, of which Marvin Wamsley, witness of one appearance of the homme-papillon some time beforehand. For the observers, the bridge collapse seems to be in narrow link with the appearance of the homme-phalène: one of the first advanced theories supposes that the creature played, by its successive apparitions nearby of the place of the catastrophe, the role of warning one of the imminence of the drama. A book of John HAS. Keel and a film of Mark Pellington (with Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Will Patton…) treat events of Not at all Pleasant: The shadow prophecy [band announces].
