Should others accept you no matter how you treat them? Or would it make more sense to treat others with some respect even if we disagree on some things?

Christians are commanded to never be rude and insulting to others. You cannot use angry speech if you are hoping to make friends.
Ephesians 4:15, 19 say we are to speak the truth in love and to use our words to build up others, and not to allow rotten or destructive words to pour from our lips. Unfortunately, this poisonous speech is a common characteristic of fallen man (Romans 3:13-14).

Beano, we are on the same page. Look at the last few questions I have posted. We need to chat over a nice cup of herbal tea. The rude only have themselves as an audience, and will never influence anyone. That is a comfort. I sill believe we can give an accouting of our beliefs and opinions without childish rudeness.

It is NEVER reasonable to be rude & insulting & especially if your hoping to make friends with others. I know from experience that everyone is not receptive.
Always keep Christ at the forefront of your mind. He will allow you to be a witness for him in the way you present yourself.

Just kidding. I would not expect to be accepted if I was always rude and insulting.
If I had a friend/ co-worker who at times was rude I could look over it as they may be having a bad day but insulting someone is premeditated and I see no excuse for that.

Typically when you are rude and insulting to someone you aren't trying to make friends with them.
People should all be treated with respect, but that doesn't mean you have to like them.

i like you. no matter what you believe or don't believe. that is why i have had you on my contact list since day one. so, maybe you can write a poem " I know you're rude and insulting, but...baby, you know I love you." Don't use words though, that will spoil it.
