I highly recommend the Lao She Teahouse Theater show. It has Beijing Opera, Acrobats, Stage Shows, and Kung Fu. It was one of the most memorable experiences I had in Beijing. Since you are there for the weekend, it's the best way to experience it all. It's only a few blocks from Tienanmen Square (to the west) by the KFC and bus station that goes to the great wall.
If you don't go, you will regret it. I can't stress that enough!

Aside from the usual Tienanmen Square and Forbidden City, I really enjoyed a tour of a hutong (a traditional walled neighborhood, most of which have now been pulled down). Be careful about buying anything of "value", because most of what exists there is fake. I can't tell you how many of our students think they bought real pearls, but almost none of them are. I've been to Beijing three times, and the only thing I've ever bought were silk tablemats. but if you enjoy poor quality knock-offs, you will definitely find them there.

well, u can try Chinese food in beijing, u will find them very different from yours, so enjoy it. yeah i confess that some things sold here are fake, but u can buy the REAL ones in some big marketplaces or malls, they have whatever u want, and u can also buy some stuffs only can be found in beijing as souvenirs, that's not a bad choice. so good luck man.

Nothing of quality is worth buying. Remember all those trinkets contain lead paint.
They don't regulate exports, so do you really think they will regulate the production of knock offs?

take some thick clothes because it's a little cold there,the temperature is about 7 to 15 degree.
