Blackjack played near-perfect with rules that are very favorable is almost a 50-50 proposition (house edge is less than 1%)
Poker, depending on the rake structure and the table limits, has an overall payoff very similar to blackjack (collectively, the players are paying the house a tiny percentage, so if all players are equal, the all lose a little to the house.)
Obviously poker in a home game HAS no rake, and therefore no house advantage.
All that being said, poker is the ONLY casino game where you CAN have an advantage. All you have to do is to be more skilled than the other players at the table. :) Yea, that's all. Just be better than everybody else.
If you're the best BJ player at the table (or even in the entire casino,) you're still an underdog.
If you're the best poker player at the table (or even the second best,) you're a big favorite.
Good luck.

Poker is a better game to come out ahead in the long run. However, if you aren't very good at poker then blackjack is better but you won't come out ahead in that.
Why are people saying that you don't have control in poker but you do have control in blackjack? Also blackjack in not near 50/50. Its more like 60/40 and you make up about 9 percent of that with blackjacks, double downs and splits.

Poker is more profitable in the long run providing you are good at it. Poker is predominantly a game of skill with a small element of luck here and there. Also, in poker you are playing against other players and not against the house as you are in blackjack so there is no fixed odds of winning and losing. In Blackjack it is you versus the casino and I can assure you in the LONG RUN the casino ALWAYS wins.
My advice would be play poker to make a profit but dont expect it to happen overnight. It is a game that takes a lot of practice and skill. Hope this helps.

You have a misunderstanding about how these games work. These games all have set rules. The dealer can not be so highly trained that he has a BETTER chance of beating you than any lesser trained dealer. Every dealer must follow the rules of the game. Each time you play a casino game, you will either get LUCKY and win some money, or you will more likely be UNLUCKY and lose. The dealer is irrelevant. They must follow the rules of each game. If you're going to play anything, I'd suggest you play roulette.

probably blackjack. cuz think about it. normally around 2 of 8 players on a cash game player are really succesful on a given night. that means you have about a 1/4 chance of doing well. in black jack it should be 50/50 (u verse dealer) but of course the house has the advantage but in theory 21 should have higher odds.

Blackjack. you play straight odds and the dealer has no choices in the matter. In Poker your not only playing the odds but trying to "read" the other players while offering them your best "pokerface" in an attempt to obfuscate your own "tells". Also when you play poker and a "team" shows up, their bankroll has two(or more) chances to beat you. It skews the odds dramatically in their favor!
