Cats get upper respiratory infections that are not the same as human "colds". The cat can have runny eyes, swollen eyes, discharge from the nose and coughing and sneezing. The cat may stop eating and drinking. This is the time to take him to the vet. Sometimes a cat will have a runny nose and will get over it without any intervention, just like people sometimes do with colds.
An upper respiratory infection in a cat can proceed into pneumonia which is very serious and can take time to treat.
Don't EVER give a cat any medications that have been designed for humans. This is a good rule to follow so you don't have to remember anything else. Most of the time they get along very well without any medications at all.

NO! Tylenol will kill your cat! Why would you use Tylenol to treat a cold anyway?? It's an analgesic (pain killer), not an anti histamine (nasal & sinus reliever).
You should take your cat to the vet so he/she can give your kitty an antibiotic to make sure the cold doesn't go into her lungs. That's what a cat needs for a cold: an antibiotic.

NO! You will destroy the cat's liver and kill it.If you've already given it some, you need to take it to an emergency vet right away, so they can begin life-saving treatment.NEVER give ANY animals Tyenol or acetominophen in any form,or Advil,Motrin or Aleve. The ONLY safe OTC pain reliever for dogs and cats is enteric coated aspirin, and cats must only be give a low dose (81 mgs) every other day or LESS often, and only with a vet's advice.cats are very sensitive to human analgesics and can very easily die from ingesting them.Your cat needs to see a vet if it has a "cold." It probably has one of the many upper respiratory viruses that cats get.

WHY?
Acetaminophen (Tylenol) should never be given to cats. It can result in fatal blood and liver disorders.
Tylenol is an analgesic for pain and fever...not for colds.
It is also formulated for humans....not cats.
If your cat is sick, he needs to see the vet...not amateur medicine. You've no idea that he even has a cold...it may be no such thing. See a vet.

no darling you can't. What is wrong with your cat? How do you know she has a cold? Ring the vet and ask them what they think. They might be able to offer a treatment without having to have a consultation.

No, cat's are very sensitive to analgesics.
They tend to have gastro bleeding from, whereas dogs can be given some in appropriate doses.
And cats don't get colds,.. upper respiratory, yes.
Anti-biotics will NOT work either, only works for secondary stages,.. bacterial, NOT viral.

It is not meant for animals. So either take it to the vet or let it get over the cold by itself.
