we have a gazillion vhs tapes.

we need a new vhs recorder; our 3 have worn out.
no reason to go to a combo vhs/dvd.
vhs should cost 75-100.

Problem is, VCR's by themselves are a dead technology. And too cheap to be a profit center. But the good thing is that DVD players are cheap, too. And those are common enough to be a profit center.

So, you can buy combo DVD players/VCR's for under $100 and even less. Best Buy, Circuit City has some, and Wal-Mart has a Philips combo for $70.
