It is not so much what is the "difference" but rather how they are designed to be used. They are basically the same with "additions"...warming agents, scents...KY has come a long way from being a simple lubricant...it is far more daring in its advertising...it recognizes that couples do things other than simple "missionary position". Other lubricants are available that last longer and are intended for other acts...

I agree witht he first answer, KY is pretty awful really. It's pretty common, which is probably why it is so popular. But as someone who as actually tried it, I really find it isn't very good, it gums up as a result of friction, which means that rather than making everything nice and smooth, after a while your skin actually rubs. I would go for one that's simple. There are even natural ones, such as Sylk which are great because they don't get so gummy, also another which is really good is the durex one, nice and smooth and doesn't become all sticky. But really, in reality, the two of you are just goign to have to try a few out. It's taken my partner and I 3 years to find one that we both like, and we've tried about 6 or so different types over the past few years. But finally we have settled on the Durex one. Oh and just a little tip, the ice ones with menthol generally suck. if your vagina is even the tiniest bit sensitive, rather than creating a cooling sensation it will just burn. ic an't tell you how many friends of mine who have had this problem, so many!

Two main kinds - water based and oil based. Water based is cheaper, but dries up quicker. Oil based is a little more expensive, but lasts longer. I recommend a scented oil based lubricant - avoid water based...it'll hurt!

Always use a condom dude. And make sure the KY doesn't dissolve the condom, some lubricats do. Eeeeeewwwww.
