This is an idea-adapt it for your situation

I know school is not your favorite place to be, if you had a choice...but we need to be here to learn.

My wanting to be an officer of the class (put your own term here) is to help all of your gain the goals that you want from your studies...and maybe we can learn something in the process and have some fun things to do as well

Whatever happens-Best of luck with it!!!

Good evening/morning etc.

I stand here before you all today with an open mind and an honest heart. If elected I will listen to each person and act for and on behalf of one and all. Strength is in numbers and when we all work together for the greater good even if we win the battle but not the war occassionally - at least you can be safe in the knowledge that I will give my all to achieve our goals.

This is pledge.

Tell the audience who you are and what office you want to hold. Most people try to do this in a humorous way; for example, "Hi, I'm John Smith. I usually run for the track team, but right now I'm running for Student Council President." If you just can't think of something funny, don't force it. You want to sound sincere, not fake. You should also tell how long you've been at the school, what grade you're in, and any other offices you've held. This will establish your credibility. If you've only been at the school for a few weeks, the other students might think you don't know enough about the school, but if you can cite examples of your accomplishments at your previous school, you can convince them that you can help at this school, too.

* Paragraph 1: Introduce yourself. Tell about the most important issues/things in life to you as a person and which personality strengths would make you right for the position.
* Paragraph 2: Set your goals and briefly discuss how you will go about achieving them.
* Paragraph 3: Let your audience know you intend to lead through service to them and want them to be actively involved. Let them know that leadership to you means getting your hands dirty right along side them and not being locked away in some room making decisions for them. Let them know you understand them and will always welcome their input.
* Paragraph 4: Finish with honesty. Tell them what the position means to you and why you hope they will give you the opportunity to lead and serve them.

[edit] Tips

* Being creative also helps. Always remember, "if you make them laugh, you make them listen." If you make them listen, your ideas will be heard. This gives you a better chance of winning.
* Don't promise anything you can't do. People will be very disappointed and may not vote for you again if running for something else.
* Use plenty of body language such as hand gestures, however, don't do too many gestures as this ditracts from your speech.
* Also change the tone of your voice otherwise it will make people want to go to sleep and they obviously won't listen

Giana --
Shock value gets attention from word one !!
Not saying THIS particular one -- but -- anything similar
will sit people up and get their attention
once you have THAT --- the rest is a piece of cake !!

Hello, my name is ______ --- I am running for _________
I'd like to say -- that, if I am elected, my Dad will buy everyone is this school a Brand New Car !! (pause) (pause)(pause)---
I'd Like to say that --- but, I can't ---- I'll have to run MY campaign on my word of loyalty to YOU and YOUR needs from a _______ that is at work for YOUR interests !!

and with THIS opening
your closing should refer BACK to it ---- with something like

And, so, even though I can't promise you all a new car for electing me --- I can promise you my undying devotion to you and your interests while I serve --- And, you can feel better about YOURSELF --- knowing that you voted for me out of concern for our school --- and NOT out of a Selfish Greed for Wheels !!!

This or ANY similar statement of SHOCK will guarantee you ATTENTION -- and THAT is what will sell you to the audience !!

Jokes usually work well. If you can come up with a good, funny and clean joke about cows that would give you a good start.
