I have a Playstation 2 I got in Asia and I'm now in the US. I want to know if I can play it in the US without using a transformer because transformers get hot pretty fast and I might be playing for a long time. Are there any other solutions? Like changing some parts or something? Thanks in advance!

Sorry bout that, yeah my PS2 is 50hz. But I heard from a friend that that doesn't really matter, is that true?

I've also tried using those converter with transformers before and after about
1-2 hours it got really hot and I was just afraid it'll burn or something.

It is a little more complicated than that my friend. You haven't provided me with enough information to tell you the whole answer. Some places in Asia run at 50 Hz whereas North America runs at 60 Hz. A transformer will convert the voltage for you but not the frequency. If they your PS2 runs at 60 Hz then you just need a transformer.

You can buy converters online if you look that has the transformer in it and all you have to do is plug it into the wall and the PS2. Changing parts in the PS2 if you don't know what you're doing is NOT advisable. You would have to have knowledge of Power Supplies, Rectifiers and the internal requirements of the PS2 itself. You could end up hurting yourself or setting your house on fire.

I have PS3 from States, but I live in Europe, so I got myself a converter that works both ways, provides 500W (PS3 requires at least 370W, but PS2 requires less) and, yes, it transforms 50 <-> 60 Hz.
On your PS2 should be a sticker with those details: xxx Volt, xx Hz, xx Watt. One disadvantage of serious converters - their weight - around 2-3 kg and they're size of a toaster (a bit smaller).
