We answer because we know as much as, and in very many cases more, than you do. And, yes, I do offer financial advice.

Actually, I don't know. That's what I DO know.
How other than the extant reference to the text of a religion can you prove to me beyond doubt that I will OR will not be re-incarnated , or resurrected or uplifted or have my conscious permanently uploaded to some data-network, transformed into something else altogether?
Can you provide any conclusive evidence regarding the existence of a universally or galactically regional powerful polity that is sufficiently powerful to engineer star-systems or planetary systems or pro-engineer living environments?
Is there a particular allegiance to any such universal or galactic polity with which you can assure with absolute certainty of fact exists?
Can you substantially demonstrate and show effect of such a polity vs. an event where the polity was NOT involved?
The answer of course is no.
What FASCINATES me is that people demand such proof of EVERYTHING else, we demand proof that our food is safe, our medicine is pure, that a defendant is truthful we obtain facts and evidence, we presume nothing about a doctor that he cannot prove by making us well, and we do not accept a bankers advice without some example that they are able to financially perform.
I ask nothing more from my fellow religious citizens than I ask of my accountant or my doctor or my lawyer, show me the money , show me the proof.
First one who does, gets' my undivided attention.
I can tell the most wonderful stories about how passionately and fluidly the bodies of my dance partner and I meld together turning and moving, effortlessly gliding together except for the fact I have no partner and have never danced and was being risque all to make point of this fact.

Because folks like you keep asking this same question over and over again. We just love answering it. BTW, do you need legal, medical and financial advice? If I can't help you I know a few Atheist friends who can.

I'm pretty positive that there are atheists here that know more about Christianity (and other religions) than you and many of the so-called Christians spouting their ignorance here.
I'd probably even go further to say that many of the atheists here were probably once Christian, too.
Before making assumptions you have no way of backing up, try reading through the section a bit, gain some knowledge and check yourself.

Hey, I was religious once. I know plenty about religion, I've read the bible cover to cover. And why shouldn't we offer " legal, medical, and financial advice"? Those topics have nothing to do with belief, or the lack of it.
I'm going to be up all night on caffeine with all these drinking game questions...

This question is asked many, many times here every single day. There is a giant search bar on top of this page that says "Search for questions" and you saw this question multiple times when you were typing a title. Why would you continue to ask it and then press OK after not having taken these other factors into consideration? This has been copied and pasted from a text file because I'm really damn sick of seeing it all the time.

My dear child, it is called freedom of speech, and freedom of religion, or freedom not to practice religion!
If I know an answer, I will answer it, and I won't be rude and ignorant about it! Unlike so many other people I could say ( and their names starts with a C.!
)And we have a few lawyers, and doctors, and financial experts, in our ranks,! so don't presume to know everything! That will get you into trouble every time, and make you look like an idiot!!

Good point! I never thought of it that way before. And the question becomes, ethically, should a non-believer try to convince a believer they are wrong? Especially since so many on this site are very young and impressionable. It's something to think about, isn't it ... Blessings!

Lots of atheists used to be religious, so its not like they know nothing about religion. So they ask questions to make us think about why we still practice, and we ask questions to make them think about why we left. Sometimes people are rude, but usually I think its all friendly -- even if its a bit snarky -- debate.
Also, religion affects everyones' lives. So therefore, everyone has the right to discuss it. I for one welcome the diversity that each group brings to the discussion.

Just because you don't believe in it doesn't mean you don't know anything about it. Most of the religion majors i know are atheists. I believe they know more about religion than most religious people.
I like religion it's interesting, doesn't have to mean i believe that any of it is true. It's kind of like fairy tales to me. it can be called "fairy tales and spirituality" i'd still be here.
