My fiance and I will probably do that, just because it's cute and it's tradition. It dates back to some culture (can't remember which) that thought it was bad luck if the new bride were to trip on her way through the door of her new home, so her husband would pick her up and carry her through the door to make sure she didn't fall.

I think it is. I got married last April and my husband did that for me. It wasn't anything amazing or anything, he just picked me up, carried me through the door and put me down. I think it's a tradition worth keeping because it kind of symbolized the new life you are starting together. I enjoyed it. I like traditions (to a certain extent).

No one seems to be mentioning it lately. It might have to do with the obesity epidemic. Starting a marriage with a sprained back would be a classic comedic nightmare.

Classic traditions like that never go out of style. If any guy has a doubt about it then they should know that romance, traditon and chivalry are not dead, and are appreciated by many women; even women who are very independant.

My hubby would have done that if we didn't have two house cats that try to run out if we open the door.

It is reasonably common, but due to weight differences, not always used
