Yes, it is. They think they are being smart and knowledgeable and that seems to include treating us like we are crap. I had one send me email about how "loving" I was and when I sent him his own profile statement, he thought I was saying it. I guess since I haven't heard back he must be real embarassed about showing himself to be a rude so and so.

If we judged believers by those we find here, we'd say they are all judgemental, pious, and ignorant.

What's your point?

The believers I know IRL are kind and considerate and accepting of my non-belief. With a lot of them, we can even joke about it. But here, I'm only told I'll burn for not accepting god, that I'm worthless without god and that evolution isn't true.

The non-believers I know IRL are kind, considerate and accepting of most believers. They donate generously to many causes, help without being asked and never judge others for not believing what they do.

We find all kinds of each type here. And god doesn't make believers any better people, trust me. Good behavior has to be inside a person or nothing will guide them.

If being a Christian is behaving like most of them do here, doesn't that prove THEY NEED ATHEISM?

Supernatural and Imaginary beliefs cannot be accepted by some of us.

I guess the counter to that is, if being a Christian means behaving the way many so-called Christians behave here, doesn't that mean THEY NEED "GOD" MORE?

Isn't it strange that christians are always the ones who are misbehaving, and acting like well, sort of like spoiled brats, that need to go to their room!
Since you claim you already have god, so to speak! Why don't you all, act like you do, and show some manners!
What is it that you are all yapping about, to us? Something about a beam in someone else's eye? While having a tree in your own!

Why would my language be altered by believing in deities without evidence?

Two topics neither parallel nor related.

The Japanese are very polite, and last I checked Buddhism didn't have deities. They also don't have religious fundies attempting to convert them to Christianity at every turn, even if it means violating the separation of church and state.

I feel that too many people would rather attach their sense of responsibility to a "higher power" than take it for what it is; a reflection of character.

Those who can't grasp personal accountability quite possibly MAY need either counseling or religion.

I trust my personal values because I know them to be good and socially rewarding. Personally speaking, I feel capable of behaving myself without being held accountable by someone who is intrinsically "perfect".

It's simply not possible for me to believe in something I think is non-sense. I'm forced to use the brain I was "given". If I'm going to Hell for being forced to think within the construct of my mind, so be it. I believe in what I think to be true and if God is going to hold that against me, he seems like one contradictory bastard to me.

I decided a long time ago that I would never be a slave to my hopes and fears, but to reason and rational thinking. Emotions always seem to get my into trouble anyways.

I've never been satisfied by all the ridiculous or fanciful answers religion offers. I like science because it makes sense to me. As hard as I've tried, religion just never made much sense to me. I believe that the true magic in life is found in the here and now, not after we die. It's right in front of us in every relationship we cultivate, every thought we ponder and every feeling we experience.

Life can be amazing for me without searching for self-felt significance within Dogma

Well, at last someone can make the plural of "atheist." Unfortunately, in this case it ought to be singular.

*roll eyes*

Does not the violent behavior in the world that is started over religion prove that you all DON'T need god?

You mean behaving smart and logical? I don't think atheists need God, they usually don't need make-believe sky faeries in order to be "good."

If theists behave like you, does that not prove god is redundant?
