Since it's a Religion AND SPIRITUALITY section, it stands to reason that Atheists fit in just as much as any other person since religion is defined by doctrines and dogmas whereas spirituality is loosely defined. For me, "spirituality" is how a person relates to others and the world around them and religion may or may not be involved. In my case it is not involved. I am Agnostic. I have met some very "spiritual" people that are Atheist and Agnostic. In my travels, I met a couple where the husband was Islamic and the wife a Christian. Both were very spiritual people that respected each others religion with no expectation of one or the other to convert. When they had children, their plan was to introduce their children to both of their religions and to encourage their children to accept differences of faith as well as people with no identified religion.
What interests an Atheist is what interests any other human being of any other religion or belief system. Those interests will vary but we all have one thing in common: We are all human beings that experience joy, sadness, pain, grief, love, fear.
I would warrant a guess that one reason Atheists come to a section on Religion and Spirituality is because of surviving very repressive/oppressive religious experiences. After something like that, a person may be interested in things related to religion and spirituality. An example, you can be Zen Buddhist and an Atheist at the same time. ; )

You know, every atheist is different. The only thing we are linked by is a disbelief in gods. Other than that one idea, individuals hold any number of beliefs that can differ significantly from person to person...from humanists to Brights to existentialists or eudaimonists, we all have different interests spiritual-wise. It's not as if we have a professed creed to live by.

Um... atheists can be interested in religion. I'm surprised you haven't noticed that about those of us who hang out here in the time you've been here.

Many of us are interested in the aesthetic value of the texts, the art, etc. and also in the psychology of belief.

Many of us are also extremely concerned for the planet and the human race and what affect religion has on both.

But you cannot say that all atheists share ANY interest... the only thing we have in common is having no belief in a god.

My personal interests are music, psychology, philosophy, science, animals, humor, art, reading, etc, etc, etc.

You can ask whatever you want. In fact, ask everything... leave assumptions behind and ask before you assume. Not that I have noticed you assuming anything that I can remember... but that's my general suggestion for theists.

Religion teaches faith and morals. Without faith and morals you have no religion. Some atheists are fine upstanding citizens so ask about their beliefs, morals and where those things came from. Since God is Love and atheists don't believe in God, where and how do they find love? Go for it Sean. Who knows, you may earn the title of Troll.

I would have to say that Atheists are just like everyone else. They are interested in many things...life, love, hobbies, family. And they are also, curiously, interested in God. As we all are ... Blessings!

Well, I hear they are still trying to figure out what came first, the chicken or the egg...every Christian knows this...God created the fowls first....the egg came second...

What really interest the atheist is mocking God as far as I can see. They don't want to talk about or be challenged by a Christian. They had rather poke fun at believers or mock God...it gives them their jollies....

Always be careful with the wording. I've been BLASTED by Atheists just expressing curiosity about their belief system. Atheists really care about the details....meticulously!

I like spending time with my family rock climbing, surfing, picnicking, reading, just plain hanging out, talking politics, watching the Discovery channel, trying new things...stuff like that.
