frstly I'm sorry for your previous loss, I know first hand how hard it can be and miscarriage is more common then most relise. I am on my 5th pregnancy but 1st baby and currently 35weeks, low dose asprin yes can aid in the prevention of miscarriage as it helps to thin your blood out, its called Cartia low dose asprin and is available over the counter, but before you go out and buy it please speak to your GP/OB first before commencing it. I have been taking it since i was 10weeks pregnant and my big fat monster is healthy, has no complications. Plus go out and buy 5mg of folic acid and start taking one tablet a day and also start on prenatal vitamins. Plus you can request from your GP an early scan to check if all is going well with the baby and when you do your scheduled blood testing ask to be tested for blood clotting:) I had the works done on me.

Goodluck and congrats on your pregnancy

I took Prometrium (200mgs.) from day 16 of my cycle while ttc, until the end of my first trimester when I got pregnant. I had a miscarriage, so my OB started me out on 100 mgs. However, after several unsuccessful months ttc, he did a laparoscopy and a biopsy of my uterus lining, which is when he discovered my uterus lining wasn't getting thick enough to sustain a pregnancy. That's when he increased my dosage to 200 mgs. I conceived that month and had a full-term healthy baby girl. I am currently 22 weeks pregnant. I took the Prometrium with this pregnancy as well. In addition, I started taking a daily baby aspirin about a year before I conceived my daughter and still do. It was prescribed because I had high cholesterol and to help prevent heart attacks. I don't know what significance it would have for preventing a miscarriage. My prayers are with you that you will have a healthy pregnancy and baby. Best wishes.

NO! aspirin is not good to take anytime during pregnancy. I don't know where you heard that but aspirin will thin your blood and can actually cause bleeding and INCREASE the risk of miscarriage. It's not the end of the world if you've already taken one or two, (I took apirin for headaches with my son the whole first trimester before I found out it was a pregnancy no-no) but it's defenitely to be avoided. There isn't really anything you can do to prevent a miscarriage other than healthy living (don't drink, do drugs, or smoke) most miscarriages are caused by an inherent problem with the fetus that is incompatible with life.

You should only take baby aspirin if directed by your doctor. I have had 4 miscarriages and am on my 4th week of pregnancy number 5. My doctor has prescribed low dose aspirin because of a blood clotting issue, determined through tests. Ask your doctor for blood tests to determine what your issue may be, never self medicate during pregnancy!
Good Luck!

You should not take aspirin during pregnancy unless directed to by your doctor. Aspirin in the first trimester can cause miscarriage, not prevent it. Sometime if you have a low platelet count the doctor will prescribe you one baby aspirin a day, but it is not to prevent miscarriage and you should never take aspirin when you are pregnant unless your doctor prescribes it for you.

Yes, but only if your body has a rare condition, in which your body thinks of the baby as a foriegn matter and tries to dispose of it my stopping the blood flow through the ambilical cord. The baby asprin helps to keep your blood thin and keep the passage through the ambilical cord clear , and helps the blood not to clot. My friend has this and had to take asprin with both of her children. She had two miscarriages before they figured it out, with me, I had low progesterone, which is what caused me to miscarry with my first pregnancy. There are many things that can cause miscarriage. Taking a baby asprin is something everyone should do to prevent miscarriage.

In the cases of certain kinds of blood clotting disorders, baby aspirin is used, sometimes alone or sometimes in conjunction with other medications that help with clotting issues. As a general rule though, aspirin can cause problems in pregnancy if you're not having issues with blood clotting and so it should be avoided.

If you should be taking baby aspirin, your doctor will tell you to do so, and what the correct dose for your situation is. Otherwise, aspirin is to be avoided in pregnancy.

Never heard of that, and with the small concentration in infant medication I doubt it would work. Go to your OB/GYN as soon as possible. You may have some other issue, such as an Rh incompatibility or low progesterone levels, which are both treatable.

ADD: Lucky is right - acetaminophen (tylenol) is the only reccommended pain reliever during pregnancy.

No, it doesn't.

And the previous posters are right that you shouldn't take anything containing aspirin during pregnancy WITHOUT SPECIFIC DIRECTION FROM YOUR DOCTOR.

Some women (me, for example) with a history of pre-eclampsia are told to take baby aspirin until a few weeks before birth.
