Theists? When you are losing an argument, why do you change the subject?

ONLY a fundie would say that atheists hate god.
*drink*
'God' does not exist - how could I possible say I hate 'him'?

'Hell' does not await me cos I don't believe all that bogeyman propaganda that spews from the mouths of loving xians.

What's 'god' gonna do?
Do you really think 'he' will strike me dead?
'He' has had countless opportunities over the last 61 years.
Wake up, kid - good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people.
When you are in trouble no 'god' will save you - it'll be up to you and you alone to extract yourself.

Oh, thank for the comedy relief; I come here for laughs; you didn't disappoint.
Thank YOU!

I'm not sure I do change the subject. You, however, seem to jump from one subject to the other rather effortlessly as you immediately launch into a red-faced tirade after you ask your unrelated question. But so you don't think I'm changing the subject...

Why do atheists hate God?
We don't. We simply have no belief in God, hence, we are a-theists, that is, "not theists", or "those with the absence of a belief in God". It's impossible to hate something you have no belief in. We can feel angry at what we see are the detrimental effects of organized religion in society, but we are certainly not directing that anger at God (pop quiz: why not?). When we criticize the "old testament God" for being a spiteful, sadistic, monster, we are criticizing the doctrine itself and the PEOPLE who invented it and still claim to uphold it. It doesn't require a lot of abstract reasoning to understand this.

Do we know that hell awaits us?
We are all keenly aware that your religion claims we will go to hell. There's no need to belabor the point. But again, we have no belief in God and therefore do not subscribe to your religion. Atheism doesn't preclude a belief in heaven or hell, but you'd be hard-pressed to find any atheists who believes in either, let alone both.

Then you make several statements which are not questions so I don't feel obliged to respond to them.

Well, it IS possible to hate a character in a book so I'll consider this question in this light.

I dislike the 'God' character in the Old Testament because he acts like a spoilt child when people don't obey him and he tends to show little mercy where it is due. In the New Testament he's a little bit better, but according to Paul, he's ultimately got it in for non-believers still. Anyone that can't tolerate people because they refuse to believe in something that they can't see, hear or touch - ie: on blind faith alone - is just a complete douche.

I don't "hate" your god because I'm scared he'll punish me if I sin, I don't actually believe gods exist. I dislike him as a character in your mythology. Please don't assume that this means that I'm subject to every level of depravity, I have this thing called a conscience that keeps me level headed.

Christians? When you are losing an arguement, why do you change the subject?

I've never changed the subject when it comes to religion. I love talking about it, and I love thinking about it. It is something I am passionate about, and wish to influence in a positive way (by vanquishing it). Ask me a question, and wait for my answer. Consider my answer. Engage your frontal cortex. Breathe. Respond. Do not tell me I am automatically wrong because I disagree with you.

I've been told that so many times. Is this a threat or honest concern for other human beings? I don't hate him (we don't capitalize pronouns in english anymore), I don't even believe he exists.

I don't hate god, nor do I hate anything else I don't believe in. That would be utterly silly.

I don't believe in hell, but if I did believe in one, I'd rather go there if you're going to be in heaven.

I can't accept the story of a person when his story is largely copied from earlier pagan gods, nor can I accept a belief without evidence for it.

And I did try, though "try" is an understatement since I spent 20 years as a Christian.

I don't ever believe I am losing an argument when it is with a Christian.. I don't hate god because to me he doesn't exist.

In addition, not only atheists change the subject. you can't just call that an atheist attribute. You changed the subject from "atheist's change the subject often" to "atheist's should believe in god"

I'm not atheist but I can say this

Christians? When you are losing an argument why do you change the subject?

I believe in Four Gods because they have helped me and answered my calling to them, whenever I asked for 'gods' help I had seen no results, my sister was being raped and did your god help and answer my prayers to let my mom realize this and divorce the son of a ***** that was doing it? No, but when I asked for help from my Four Gods, she found out what was going on and divorced him. So tell me, why is it that I get help from Four Gods but your all mighty, forgiving, caring etc. god did crap?

Why? because your god does not exist! Hell is but an illusion as is heaven.

Believers: Why, when you are losing an argument, do you fall back on "Accept Christ?" Or start flipping through your bibles? Why not engage in some original thinking and come up with your own arguments?

Oh, BTW: I don't waste time hating that which does not exist. Sorry.

Why don't you accept Allah? Do you hate him? How about Zeus? Ahura Mazda?

Do you also hate Yoda? Gollum? Spider Man?

Look: I can read a book, not like the villain, and not believe the villian is real not because I hate him, but because IT'S JUST A BOOK.

Nobody has ever provided any evidence that any gods, much less a specific god, exist. People believe in specific gods because of indoctrination from an early age, tradition, hallucinations, fear of torture (for gods sadistic enough to threaten it) and other similarly illogical reasons. But no gods exist in reality; these are all stories, created for people who were scared of the world long before we understood it. Now we have no more reason for these superstitions.

What's the harm in religion:

Now: please admit that you don't know if your god exists or not, and you just believe he does.

And even if your sick evil torturer god existed, I still wouldn't worship the baby-murdering, kitten-drowning tyrant.

There's no point arguing this. Us atheists see everything differently than you, we cannot possibly hate or love something we don't believe in. Many of us have tried accepting Jesus and lived as Christians for much of their life before choosing atheism.

Many would interpret your question as insulting disrespect. I'll be charitable, and hope it's simply ignorance.
