A point if I may.
This is an "association" and not a Union. Unions of PD/FD are illegal federally.
The author misspoke.

That said:
They're right.

THAT said:
3rd strike laws make it more dangerous for Officers when they face a suspect that is potentially facing life in prison based on strikes.

It's part of the job. Nothing is either routine, or usual.
You deal with it.

Edit:
I'm 287(g) trained.
I've taken hundreds of illegals off the street.
More than a few more than once.
So how about that wall...
Can we at least slow them down...?

The Union is against it. The Officers would like to be able to arrest and contact ICE on illegal aliens that commit misdemeanor crimes( currently it is against policy) . However, the Chiefs in the Phoenix Metro area do not think it is their job to ask of immigration or contact ICE. I think the Chiefs should find a way to let the officers under them ask vital questions to those that commit crime whether it is a felony or misdemeanor. We are a sanctuary city here after all. Which I do not agree with.

Well, thank God! There is someone in the state of Arizona that has some sense! Don't the rest of these pro-illegal aliens crowds realize that this is the just first step in La Raza taking back California, Arizona, and New Mexico. They feel the land is legally theirs and they are invading us right now. Some day, we will look back on 2007 and wish we would have stopped them.

I'm looking forward to reading about the ICE's new same-day-service standard for '08. With umpty-bazillion dollars set
aside(hopefully not just for somebody's new boat) for
'defense' and homeland bure...er, security, they should be
able to manage to get people back to their home country
the same day they figure out that they can't stay in the US
no more. WAY better than months and years of trials and
lawyers and jail and welfare and and and...

It is about time to start arresting civil officials who actively block the enforcement of federal law!

Police enforce law, not make them.
