I would like to know what the value of my Colt M1911A1 Argentine Modelo 1927 which was produced in Argentina under contract from Colt shortly after 1928 during WWII. The pistol was manufactured by
F M A P a reputable gun manufacturer in Argentina. Argentina first bought 10,000 M1911A1s from Colt before producing more under contract. The pistol is interchangeable with the M1911A1 made by Colt since it was produced to be just like the one's made by Colt under contract . It's serial number is 35367 so that tells me that is was one that was produced under the contract and not made in the USA by Colt. The handgun is in fairly good shooting condition. This article second paragraph shows some of this information http://www.gunblast.com/RKCampbell_Modelo1927.htm some of the other info I posted was found elsewhere. So if anyone knows what the value of this handgun is I would really appreciate any input.

Thank You,

Eric Weeks

You pretty much answered your own ?, except for giving the worth of your weapon.
Your 1927 is neither a 'Colt', nor a M-1911A1. It is an Argentine Mod.1927, as you yourself stated. These pistols were made under license granted by Colt in 1928, and are not quite as good a quality as their U.S. counterparts. In fact, ANY of the U.S. military 1911-A1's from WWI I are better than the Argentine clones. The best quality examples of these 'furriners' are worth, at best, $250-300.
I have both Remington-Rand and Colt series 70's, and I wouldn't trade either one for a 1/2 doz. of these South American copies.

Hi Eric. Argentina has manufactured some good Colt clones. Your 1911 (actually 1911-A1) is a clone since it is manufactured to Colt specs but is not manufactured by Colt. The serial number is not especially low at 35,367. If it is a Modelo 1927 (manufactured in 1928) it was not manufactured after WWII; it had to be after WW1. From all I've seen n read, these are good, solid utilitarian pistols (unless you got a real rough model).

I've seen foreign Colt 1911 clones for as high a $400. and as low as $150. I've been considering buying a Spanish 1911 in 9mm Largo but it is not in as nice a condition as I'd like and the asking price is $400, so I'll probably pass on it.

It is hard to appraise a gun without seeing but its probably in $250 to $400 ballfield.

Best.

See the link...the pistol you have is a 1927 Modelo Sistema
made in Argentina and is reputed to be an exact Colt copy.
Cruffler has a good writeup on them.

Refer to The Blue Book of Gun Values to determine the value of your gun. Your library should have a copy.
