why are there so many bearers of false witnesses among those fundies? do they think they will get to heaven for it?
don't ask me to give examples of this false accusations against the Catholic Church, because everybody has heard enough.
note: what I mean with Biblicist is Bible-fundamentalists.

Born-Again Catholic, LOL, sure you can use that term. you have to clarify it like I did though, which will put as back to the derogatory term. just kidding. by all means, you're free to borrow. =P

Unfortunately, some of the extreme fundamentalists actually believe that any lies told to a nonbeliever, or a believer who they think is straying from the path that "supposedly" gets them on the path or even simply, "meant" to return them to path, are not considered to be sins.
This, however, is not biblical and not close to the mark at all! Lies are lies, sins are sins, and any lies you tell to a nonbeliever, or a supposedly straying believer might very well bite you in the rear, and end up doing the very opposite of what you intended when you told it to them, and causing them to step off of the path!

Some have admitted here that they know what it means to bear false witness. Obviously they are either intentionally lying or have never investigated the claims they repeat about Catholics. If it is not found in Catholic sources it most certainly is not true. Catholics are very open about their faith , worship and practice. Most everything is available in the Catechism which is available online and easy to research any question. Now, they have no excuse when they stand before God. There, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess. How can they think they will be judged by the lies told against His Church and His faithful? Is it possible that if they do not know His Church that He may not know them? What happens to those at judgment? May the Lord have mercy.
In Christ

I'm telling you: It boils down to apostolic authority.
They don't like it, don't accept it, and willingly believe -- and propagate -- anything that goes against Catholicism on that basis alone, true or not. The rest of it is smoke and mirrors. Does it really matter to them whether we baptize infants, ask for intercession of the saints, pray rosaries, revere Mary, use holy water, any of it? Truthfully, I don't think they care. What really grinds them is the authority of the Church.
Not surprising given the origins of every single fundamentalist, evangelical, Protestant, what-have-you Christian denomination. And it's unlikely to end, barring some serious Holy Spirit intervention, before Christ's return.
I do like "Biblicist", though, very much. I always felt a little guilty calling them fundies -- nothing was ever gained by using a derogatory term. Mind if I borrow it?

Catholic-bashing is almost a sport around this Forum, and you're right about one group of people who spew hatred and nonsense about Catholics. They've been taught a bunch of nonsense about the Church, and they refuse to go beyond that.
In some cases, the person simply hates Catholics and Catholicism, and they refuse to listen to anything you have to say. They're right, you're wrong, and that's the end of it, as far as they're concerned. These are the same people who say that Catholics aren't "real" Christians -- as if they have the right to judge others!
Then there are those people who've been taught a bunch of nonsense about the Church and want to know what the real story is. I will explain why we believe what we believe to them until my fingers just about fall off because they are willing to find out the truth for themselves.
If people were willing to listen to those of us who've studied our faith and know why the Church teaches what it does, the Catholic-bashing could be cut down to almost nothing. But some people can't get past their prejudice to learn the truth. . .and those are the ones I feel sorry for.
When non-catholics talk on traditions of men they are talking in reality of themselves. Protestantism is the best example of following the "traditions of men." Virtually every Protestant church, denomination, sect and cult can be traced to some human founder(s) within the past 500 years. Whether it is Luther, Calvin, King Henry VIII, Wesley, Knox, Joseph Smith (Mormon), Russell (JW), Eddy (Christian Scientist) or any number cropping up to this very day, all Protestants follow the "traditions of men." Some, such as Lutherans, use the very name of their founder in their denomination name. Others closely identify with their founders, such as those who call themselves "Calvinists." All approach the Bible and interpret it in accordance with the "traditions of men" they have inherited
In practice, Evangelicalism doesn't derive its teachings from Scripture, and it doesn't attempt to. It derives it either from some sort of systematic "theology" such as Dispensationalism, from an eclectic approach to whatever ideas and experiences entice, or through a charismatic leader. Consequently, since Scripture isn't as important as they make it out to be, they use only snippets, only what they need to use for a hammer.
It isn't really all that different than us, but we don't make any pretensions about the fact, and most of them aren't aware of where the Bible came from, how it was transmitted, or any other such thing. They just assume the Early Church was like them, and that they rediscovered the true faith that had been corrupted long before. It's sad, given how many attempt at piety and firmly believe, but it is the reality. It's the tragedy of sin

Alot of people are misinformed, thus they are speaking false witness unknowingly. Some do so because they are self rightous. Other are just sinners who have not repented.
But there are some skeletons in the closet of Rome nonetheless.

A true bible fundamentalist will not and will ever be a "false witness." People that bear false witness to others tend rely on their own tradition, culture, and benefit rather than what the scripture says.
