My family is moving to Canada and I'm wondering about this question. And when do I call 911?

if it's a crime scene the cops already know...if it just happened or came upon something that is a crime and there is no yellow tape around (emergency) call 911

You should only call 911 to report an emergency. If the crime scene is established, the police probably know that a crime has been committed.

911 is only for life or death emergencies. It's not too complain about your neighbors dog barking at all hours of the night, or loud parties, or any other non emergency situation.

I THINK *911 IS A UNIVERSAL MESSAGE FOR RESPONSE--POLICE-FIRE-MEDICAL.
SOME AGENCIES ARE 911 POLICE 912 FIRE 913 MEDICAL. DO NOT KNOW ABOUT ALL OF CANDADA BUT THEY HAVE HAD 911 IN VANCOUVER AND BC SINCE 1980'S??
