SEG48 said, "Jehovah's Witnesses are consider a sect and not a religion"

Well with thought why wouldn't the churches that celebrate christmas, easter and the some churches that celebrate Halloween say that the Watchtower Society are a sect? LOL
I love the irony of churches.

Yes.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christian. They are formally called:

The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

As Christians they reject everything that Jesus rejected.

I think that it is right for them. If this is what they believe will bring them closer to God, then that is what they should do. I certainly don't miss "all the fun" by not celebrating Christmas. I do, however, celebrate Yule. I believe that whatever you celebrate to honor God is what is right for you. The key word here is honor. It does honor to God/the Divine/Jehovah or whatever you call the creator to reflect on the cycle of life in whatever way you choose. Christmas honors the coming sacrifice of the Christ for Christian's salvation. Since it also was a time of a massacre of children, I can understand why Jehovah's Witnesses wouldn't want to celebrate it.

Almost every religion has some form of celebration of birth, renewal, and death/sacrifice. However a religion chooses to honor that cycle of life is "right" for them.

For me, the Christian holidays are a time to be with family. Many of the Christian holidays also coincide with my holy days. Christmas/Yule, Easter/Ostara, etc.

What road you take on your journey is not quite as important as the fact that you make the journey in love and peace.

Good journeys,

Asha

YES! Christian holidays have become nothing more than fun and games for children. When Christmas falls on a Sunday, some churches actually cancel services. Incredible! What does Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny have to do with the birth of Jesus?

They're kind of ingrained in our society now. Easter is actually a pagan fertility goddess named Ester whose symbol was the rabbit. I tried to tell that to a lady at work one time and she thought I was making fun of her religion. Same goes for Christmas which was once celebrated as Saturnalia in ancient Rome.

The Watchtower is very concerned about the Origin of Holidays and anything they do because, GOD is concerned and judges us by the Origin of what we do. But, does God care about the Origin's? If he does, does he care about the Origin of the Watchtower Society? I know why I celebrate Christmas. It's the birth of Jesus and the Angels celebrated! But does GOD reject my celebration because of Pagan rituals associated with this date? I don't think so.

Jesus birthday is Tishri 15 (September 28) that date is in the bible in the book of Leviticus and I learnt that with Jehovah´s witnesses all of us know that and IS IN ALL BIBLE that is why we know is false the date of December 25, althought Jesus never celebrate his birthday nor pagan holydays.

Yes, Thank You Jehovah.

For sending your beloved Son.
For drawing us up to your mountain.
May your Kingdom come.
May we be concealed in your Day of wrath.
And deal to each 1 of us, our portion.

A name is better then good oil,
and the day of death than
the day of one's being born~~ Ecc 7:1

EDIT: Asha, Thank you, I hadn't thought about that aspect.
Thank you so much for pointing that out.
The slaughter of the little boys,
the wailing coming from the city
in those days; sounds unbearably sorrowful.

Hope in the Resurrection of the Christ~~

I figure if someone wishes to follow the Bible, and isn't harming someone else, kudos for trying to do what they feel is right.
