Yea, it's wrong.. This is not normal behavior. There is something very deep rooted in you that is causing you to take out your anger or frustrations in this particular fashion. I have seen movies on it. You really need to get counseling to find out what is really bothering you, if you have no clue. Don't say you don't want to stop..Right now you don't feel you do, because it's like a drug. It somehow makes you feel so much better when you do it.. But when you find out the real problem behind this cutting thing, you'll be glad to learn what it is and how you can deal with it in a mature way. You do need help.. Please don't wait.. It won't get better, only worse if you delay.. And you are not alone.. This practice affects many, mostly teens. Have the courage to admit it to someone and then get treatment.. You will be glad you did..Give it your best shot.. Good Luck hon..

I know that it may be hard to talk to someone about what is going on with you but it is the best thing. You can talk to a trusted friend, family member or someone objective like a counselor, therapist or call a hotline for help. You took a big step in asking for help, and don't even realize it when you posted your question on yahoo answers. Apparently, your question was not only important enough for people to answer, you are important enough that people you don't know want you to get help. Even though they never met you and want to help you. I can only imagine what people will do who love and care for you. I also suggest you take the time to realize what is behind the cutting. Are there any changes in your life? personally or otherwise. What are other positive ways you can handle your problems, such as writing in a journal, talking to somone, blogging, exercising, kick boxing whatever you enjoy doing.

However, I hope you can find your underlying issue behind the cutting but I really hope you can take the extra step and reach out for help to stop hurting you self and care about yourself enough to stop the abuse.

One more thing are you depressed? Do you think it would benefit you if you could talk to someone regulary to express your emotions. Can you express your emotions verbally or do you usually keep them inside? Do you enjoy drawing, or painting can that be your release? Whatever it is I wish you much Luck and God Bless you..

If you want to talke someone now call 1800-DONTCUT

I know the feeling. Inflicting physical pain is usually to take your mind off emotional pain. I know it can be really hard to face things you dont want to deal with, if you do decide you want to stop cutting, find someone whether it be a counsellor or a really good friend (someone you can trust 100%) to talk to about what's been bothering you. I bet if you get the things out that have been hurting you inside, you won't even feel the need to cut anymore. all the best :)

This is something I've done in the past and I usually do it to vent anger or frustration. I joined the National Self Harm Network Forum which is a registered charity and you you'll probably find lots of people can identify with you. As I say, I've done this myself in the past so I can't really preach but I strongly recommend that you join the forum. I hope this helps.

You say you do not want help to stop, however you are asking a question about if it is wrong?
Yes, it is not a healthy way to cope. it is addictive because it brings instant relief , even if it is temporary.
Since you are not ready to stop remember that you are at risk of infection, scars for life and embarrassing comments from complete strangers .

Did you ask yourself WHY am I cutting myself? Doesn't it make you feel more down when you look at the cuts? Cause then it is a constant reminder of the pain your in. Please try to not cut yourself, you only end up hurting yourself more.
Look in your phone book under mental heath clinic or family counseling and make an appointment o see a counseler. I go to herapy it helps getting your feelings out and they don't judge you either it's important to get he pain out of your system.
Good luck

I had trichatilomania when I was younger. can't spell it right...oh well. But you do self mutilation because certain chemicals in your brain aren't working right now for some odd reason making you really depressed. Giving yourself pain releases them. sadly. you need to find something to get yourself not to do that. It can hurt you in the long run.

Hello

Well, it's not 'wrong' but at the same time it's not normal - would you agree with me there??

If you are cutting yourself, even if you feel OK about it, there is something not quite right there and you need to seek help.

Self abuse is a sign of an underlying serious psychiatric disorder so you need to see your Doctor urgently.

i know what you mean... i never wanted to stop when i did. it helped me to bring ignore the emotional pain and make it an easier pain to deal with. i mean it definitely is wrong... but its not the worse thing you could do. you could do wayyy worse things. its not even something you can really talk about.... but what you can talk about that will help is why you do it... try not doing it as much and weaning yourself off of it.
