well first of all for many years school buses have driven without them and it's obviously not a problem. Also, because of their size, statistically, i think it more of a hazard for a child to have a seat belt on in a school bus because any accident that is serious would require them to leave the bus or a roll over from what I've seen and that would cause more of a problem, they are not designed for it and there is plenty of room on a bus vs a car, not to mention the weight and height of a bus. Any accident would involve a train or large truck that would even need concern and in that case I think the priority should be to worry more about evacuation than strapping a bunch of kids to their seats especially in a bus which is more like to roll over and make it more difficult.

There is no argument AGAINST it as far as I'm concerned. I wear one all the time; it took two car crashes to get that one through my head. BTW, I was a passenger both times.

In roll-overs, people without a seat belt do one of two things: they miraculously remain in the vehicle or they're thrown out! Being thrown out causes death, injury or nothing if you're lucky. If you stay in the vehicle, you'll most likely be flung into other parts of the car and be injured.

Parents should teach their kids to wear seat belts, not the school. Common sense.

The strongest against is that the kids won't wear them.

The strongest for is that if you get the kids to wear them on the bus, then they will develop the habit and be more likely to wear them in cars.
