my sis and i did this for our mom with the grandkids, but it would work for you as well. We got an inexpensive, silver bracelet off of overstock.com. It had a heart on it that we got engraved with grandma (so you'd want to do mom or her name). Then we went to things remembered and bought face charms that we got engraved with their names on them. We put all the charms on the bracelet. She loved it.

RE:
Really unique idea for mom's 50th birthday gift?
We're having a surprise party, but we're looking for a gift idea for the three siblings to go in on for her... something preferably cheap and easy to pull off in a short amount of time. She isn't into pampering herself too much and is a real family woman. Any idea is helpful at this...

I've sat here for 5 minutes trying to come up with a cheap, quick gift for the 50th birthday of a woman who has dedicated her life to her family.
Perhaps three children who appreciate her would be most appropriate.

Get her a gift certificate for a trip to the day spa. The works: facial, pedicure, massage, manicure, and having her hair done. This will be a little costly, perhaps your siblings can go in on it. For God's sake, do not get her something for the house!
All mothers need pampering from time to time, and the
BIG 5-0 is certainly one of those times!

Something the three of you have made together or a little scrapbook of memories, pictures, school items, ribbons earned, etc. from your youth. She is into family, make something, even if it's just a card, for her. Put a little of your self and your time into the gift.

Please don't give her a gift certificate! Nothing unique or personal about that! And please DO NOT consider getting her a stripper. That is a horrible, distasteful idea for children to give their mother.
One of my favorite gifts from my children was a beaded bracelet with beads in colors that represented their birthstones, but weren't the stones themselves, so I know it was affordable. A local craftswoman made it.
I turned 50 last year, and my favorite gift from my children was the time they gave to spend the weekend with me. I love having them all together, laughing and teasing. I love the sweet notes they each write in their cards about what I mean to them. These things are priceless!

I got my mom a darling teddy bear and put a beautiful diamond necklace around the neck of the teddy. It was expensive but does not have to be. Get her a teddy and a nice necklace that will mean something to her (it doesn't have to be diamond or expensive).

You should have a professional family picture taken. Perhaps one that is not in the studio but in a different setting such as a park.

get her a HOT male stripper. It'll be a b-day you'll all remember!
She's 50 and that's the new 40,so they say. Sure would be a surprise and hopefully your dad will be a good sport.
I bet mom is open minded enough to truly enjoy every swagger and swing of his hips!
Wish I could be there!
