I really like using M&Ms as my favor. However, the personalized ones for the website are too expensive. I was thinking about just buying One Pound bags of M&Ms from the grocery store. I've seen them for as cheap at $2 a bag (on sale) I'm having 150 guests and I'm figuring everyone should get a quater(.25) of a pound each. That means I would need about 38 bags (I'd just round to 40 and have a few extra)

The cost would be about $80 for the M&Ms. I then would place them in cute little containers and attach a cute little poem to them.

My first name starts w/ a M and so does his. So, it's saying is about use being M&M (get it...cheesy I know)

I'm having a fall wedding, so I'll try getting the fall colors M&Ms. But, if I don't. Do you think this will be a good favor, regardless of what color M&Ms I use.

I'm trying to keep the favor cost to about $1-$1.25 per person. So far $80/150 is about .53 cents a person. I'm getting containers cheap by the bulk.

I think that is an awesome, adorable, incredible idea.

Run with it and I saw Halloween M&M's in the grocery store today and they were brown, yellow, and orange. I think!

I love that idea!

Sounds pretty good. I think if both your names start with M it makes much more sense than if you had randomly chosen them like some weddings even though they are a pretty common favor.

If you shop the day after Halloween you can get the brown and orange M$M's on clearance...up to 75% off here.

Instead of spending extra money on containers I would just put the candy in larger containers on the table with the cake maybe? You can get some white paper bags for about $5 for 100 and print the poem on them or just have it on the larger container. Then you will be able to give your guests more candy which they would probably prefer over something fancy like a galvanized tin.

You can order single color bags from the site and they are cheaper when they aren't personalized. Otherwise I would get the bags of regular if you can't get the Fall themed and pick out all the red, brown and oranges. The other colors just keep in bowls at home, give away at work and let your new husband and family members munch away.

Also look for sales on the already packaged bags. You can get them for about 3/$1. Possibly less if you went someplace like Sam's. Then you could just wrap them in pretty paper and tie with something Fallish like raffia and attach your poem.

That sounds perfect. Luck you for having the "M". Me and my guy are both B so we thought of that also but never looked into it. We even thought of just buying the M&M's cause our last initial is W, not too much of a difference...lol. But we ended up making our own mints which were great. I think its perfect and you definitely have no need to go buy the expensive ones when you have the perfect initials for the normal ones, also i think the regular colors will be fine if you cant get the colors. It would be neat with the specialty colors but really it will still be very cute no matter what. Good Luck.... Ive been married 2 weeks and its great!!!1

I was thinking about this as a wedding favor too! Do you know of anyone in Las Vegas? If so, you should ask them to go to the M&M store and see what their prices are like in the store. It my be cheaper than online... Not sure. Pljus, they have a HUGE variety of colors. Any color you can think of.

I'm going to have a bunch of different candies out on a table in my wedding colors and have the guests choose what candy they want to take home.... kind of like a candy buffet. To control the amounts, I am going to give each guest one small candy bag. I think that will be fun and different. :-)

Good luck!!

I think that is a great idea! It's creative. I like the "m" thing and your names begin with "m". You can also buy them just by colors by the pound at certain candy stores. Go with fall colors even, I love fall colors. If not the normal colors are bright and cheery. I hope they look cute! Congratulations on your wedding!

this sounds fun, why not set it up like a candy buffet with each color in a different container, you can even get a few of the personalized ones say in white and mix them in with another color say red, it will make a cute display and be like an extra "prize" also by letting everyone dip their own favor out they get what color they want and if they aren't into to it they can pass without wasting the candies

That's a great idea!

We did the M&M thing for our engagement party (about 50 people) and it was kind of expensive, a nice treat and it just came out at the time so it was a unique favor. I can only imagine what the cost would be for 150 people.

I think it would be a great favor. Definitely go for the fall colors but if you can't, the regular M&Ms will work very well. Congratulations on your wedding!

Yeah that is an awesome idea. Cute, not cheesy at all. I say do it. You can get M&Ms in red and orange and yellow and that would suit for a fall wedding. Great idea!

I think that's a great idea, but I would definitely do everything you can to get your wedding colors, because otherwise it's just M&Ms on the table. :-) But the initial thing isn't cheesy -- you got lucky with that, so save cash where you can!!!
