I have a minolta x-370. Everything seemed to be working fine. I loaded my film in the camera but was unable to advance it. the film advance crank opens the full 130 degrees. I can feel a slight resistance against it which feels normal, but the crank will not turn the spool. The shutter release also does nothing when i press it. Is there something that i am just forgetting??

Antoni is right. But there's also another possibility ...

The sprocketed spool may be worn down. This sometimes happens on older cameras ... the little teeth that are supposed to grab and push the film forward just wear down and can no longer do their job.

And if that happens, the leading edge of the film slips out of the takeup reel and nothing happens.

A good camera repair person should be able to analyze and fix it - although it may not be worth what it will cost.

The second law of thermodynamics is an expression of the universal law of increasing entropy, stating that the entropy of an isolated system which is not in equilibrium will tend to increase over time, approaching a maximum value at equilibrium. The second law traces its origin to French physicist Sadi Carnot's 1824 paper Reflections on the Motive Power of Fire, which presented the view that motive power (work) is due to the fall of caloric (heat) from a hot to cold body (working substance). In simple terms, the second law is an expression of the fact that over time, ignoring the effects of self-gravity, differences in temperature, pressure, and density tend to even out in a physical system that is isolated from the outside world. Entropy is a measure of how far along this evening-out process has progressed. There are many versions of the second law, but they all have the same effect, which is to explain the phenomenon of irreversibility in nature.

Check the battery. A dead battery shuts the camera down.

Make sure the "ON" switch is "ON".

If the battery is good and the switch is ON then your camera may need service. Contact garryscamera@yahoo.com. He is very reasonable ($45.00 + 8.00 shipping) and has a fast turnaround - usually under 2 weeks.
