This kid called me ugly not to my face, but still why did he? We were supposed to be friends. He told this other kid that he thought I was annoying and ugly. He has no room to talk though because he's a nerd and has bright red hair. Why are all boys so mean?

A lot of people will say nasty things about other people behind their backs simply because it makes them feel better about themselves if they can cut someone else down. It's a strange sort of self comfort. They're unhappy with themselves, so rather than try to improve themselves to something they can be proud of, they find it easier to degrade the world around them and everyone in it. To go into depth with this subject would be taking a stroll into human psychology, and rest assured Yahoo! Answers doesn't pay me psychotherapist wages, so I won't ramble on about semantics. However, if you feel that you were slighted, my best suggestion is to confront that person as calmly and confidently as possible and tell them that if they're man/woman enough to say something at all, then they should be man/woman enough to say it to your face and explain themselves. Everyone should be held accountable for our own words and actions. If they're not man/woman enough to stick by their guns and make a valid and reasonable point, then they're simply being unreasonably childish... and if that's the case you have no reason to worry what comes out of their mouth in the future.

Boys are mean because they're immature and don't know much about anything when they're young. But trust me when I say that most guys don't ever grow up, so you should prepare yourself for that as you get older. Boys are stupid. That's just a fact of life. Can't do much about it. It is what it is.
