It seems like if you take energy out of the wind that it will go slower???

2007-10-08 15:18:22 · update #1

For wind to be a significant factor in the overall energy picture, we are talking thousands upon thousands of square miles of windmills (ok turbines). Is anyone looking to see if they will have impacts?

Much like nuclear science, we are playing with dangerous unknowns when it comes to wind power. Will these tall structures attract huge electric storms to their location?
Possibly create massive turbulence fields dangerous to aircraft and birds.? Divert the usual weather patterns into Mega storms somwhere else?
These are the qustions you must ponder when you play with nature.

You might think that but wind turbines cannot take all the energy from the wind. And of course they have no effect on the wind higher up than the top of the wind turbine, which is about 99% of the wind in the world. Anyway, wind does not cool the world, just like a fan does not cool a room. A breeze only cools human bodies by helping the body release its natural internal heat faster. People generate a LOT of heat, which becomes obvious in a crowded room. In fact it is the premise of the Matrix movies, where evil inteligent machines in the future use the heat from human bodies as a source of power.

Windmills don't even block a small portion of all the wind in the wind farm let alone outside of it. Lack of wind only makes it seem hotter. Wind helps equalize the hot and cold places.

Wind is fluid as water, and as long as it is not containerized, it will not stop. Windmills contribute to the slowing down of the planet, just as ocean waves and resistance to wind, i.e. wind drag. The earth is not turning as swiftly as it was last year. It is progressively slowed down, and actually, gravity decreases when the earth is slowed down. I propose a method of air/jet stream captivation which involves a large diameter tube erected into the levels of 150 mph winds jet stream which will channel this swift air into waiting jet stream receiver tunnels on earth. See-thru tunnels which, with the aid of modern technology, are able to propel canisters filled with people and things all over our planets surface. All with no pollution. All with natural and clean and sustaining properties. Our children deserve the things which this planet has to offer. To throw them away for a few hundred years of gasoline burning is out and out suicide and genocide of peoples.

No the planet may take of and fly away .
wind mills hardly exist any more
they were used to mill grains ,like wheat and corn ,
the only ones left are tourist attractions .restaurants or private houses .

Are you perhaps referring to wind turbines or wind generators that is something completely different ,and i doubt if they affect temperatures
the worlds winds are an enormous power they are not even aware of the wind generators even if there were thousands ,
but many birds would end up dead

Wind is created by temperature variations in our atmosphere.
Warmer air rises, cooler air sinks, wind is created.
Windmills only utilize this fact and cannot "block" the wind.
Don't be silly.

No. If anything there is a potential benefit due to less dependence on fossil fuels and nuclear.

Yes, this is a well known problem called "global calming"

Scientist know this problem is man made and will cause the mass extinction of many species.

The only known solution is for everyone to flap their arms every 5 minutes.
