I am studying the book of Revelation of the Bible and trying to interperet some of the prophicies... do I have these right?

Chapter, Verse 1: And now in my vision I saw a beast rising up out of the sea...

Chapter, Verse 15: And the angel said to me, "The waters where the prostitute is sitting represent masses of people of every nation and language.

This means a beast rises out of masses of people?

Chaper 13, Verse 5: Then the beast was allowed to speak great blasphemies against God. And he was given authority to do what he wanted for forty-two months.

NUMBERS, Chaper 14, Verse 34: According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, a year for each day, you shall bear your iniquity forty years...

EZEKIEL, Chaper 4, Verse 6: And when you have completed these, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side, and bear the punishment of the house of Judah. Forty days I assign you, a day for each year.

Back then, a year on the Mosaic calender was 360 days... 30 days a month.

So 42 months = 1,260 days?

You will need help to understand Revelations...get a commentary or one of the great books on Revelations out there. Then sit down with the book, the Bible and a notepad. There are also some great CDs if you had rather listen than read, although personally I think reading helps you retain more.... you can also find a place on line to help you study Revelations...it is a hard book, but it can be understood with a little help. The sea does often refer to humanity in the Bible. And the 1,260 days is right, but it's not literal 24 hour days. People have studied the book of Revelation for centuries, and it still confuses almost everybody. And most denominations have different interpretations of what John's visions mean. You might want to consult a minister or a librarian.

Find one of Jehovah's Witnesses, or the next time they knock on your door, invite them in. The book of Revelation is not about the world in those days. It applies to TODAY, and the events that have been happening since 1914.

The only way to interpret Revelation is with the Holy Spirit on your heart and some major intense prayer and meditation. Quiet time alone with God and His word.

Log off your computer, get up and fall down on your knees.

as light = enlightenment,
beast = prince of darkness = ignorance.

therefore, verse 1 = ignorance rising and ruling the world.

verse 15 = religion that perpetuates ignorance around the world.

...or forty-two years. Whats the underlying focus of the text? Scripture is like an onion, it has many layers and great depth. You have and are only scratching the outer layer.

They were prophecies meant to apply to the countries of that time. You'll drive yourself nuts trying to read too much into them. Prophets in that time were a dime a dozen.

There are no gods telling old yahoos vague and cryptic information about the future.
