i heard winning has the best protection but are pricey. any other suggestions? also if a glove protects your hands more does that mean your punches are softer or that has nothing to do with it? like someone told me getting punched with reyes gloves feels different than winning or ringside or that is not really true?

It's gotta be Winning. Winning gloves are heavily padded around the knuckle area so they're preferred by fighters with weak or brittle knuckles. Erik Morales is a known user of Winning because of his tender knuckles. Big punchers, however, shun this brand because the thick pads take out the impact of their punches. Manny Pacquiao calls them pillows.

Pal , it depends on what oz the glove you are going to fight with . Your weight class will usually dictate what type glove of you will need and if you are a light puncher like Biggs who always used thick padding . Different glove makers design their with comfort and protection in mind.
I always used ringside and everlast products, they were always dependable . It doesn't mean that if a glove gives you more protection than another glove it doesn't take away from your impact. Some gloves feel more stiffer when your hit and others are known to cut you faster.
Do your home work and search around to find out what works for you, I could talk about it all day but you have to try different gloves during a fights or sparring !!

Check out Top Ten equipment. No lie i will never use anything else. Many professional athletes have been using these gloves for many years. They are made out of Bay-flex material the same kind of material used in BMW's. I am a kickboxer and rely on my hands a lot and it takes me 2 yrs to wear out a pair of these gloves and sometimes longer. Buy one pair and i bet you will never wear anything else!
