The PS3 is so big because it has so much in it and a lot of it is new technology such as the blu ray. It takes time to reduce the size to fit into smaller units and it will probably happen but just like the PSOne and PS2 by the time they do it you know they will be coming out with a new system in a year or so and they are trying to soak up as much as they can by releasing a miniture version of it

I really don't think that the PS3 is that big because I think that the original Xbox was just as big or bigger. But like one other person said, there is so much inside of a PS3 that a big console is probably the only option right now. But as technology advances, the PS3 will most likely get slimmer. There was a smaller version of the PS1 and the PS2 released, so there is probably going to be a smaller PS3 released sometime in the future.

So there is no way you own a 360 then either. The size of the consoles are about the same size really in fact the PS3 might be a bit smaller in width.
My guess is that at some point they probably will make a smaller one, probably 3 or 4 years from now. Although it could even be sooner, however you're certainly going to lose some things, like the card readers. May lose bluetooth or wi-fi.

Sony will eventually release a smaller version probably within the next 2-4 years, but the ps3 size doesnt bother me it looks reallly sleek.

Yes, it is big, but everything you need is in there, there are no add ons to buy, that lay everywhere, its all in a big, but tiny package!

And does it really matter that it,s big, i mean its not a hand held, it just sits there, and never moves. So i don't think it matters how big the console is, as long as it's within reason.

I don't see how they could...Just to get the xbox 360 so small microsoft has the power brick seperate and it's a pain to have to grab the 360 then the ten pound power brick , then the seperate hddvd and carry it to another tv.

Probably. They just want everyone to spend their $500 on the original before they release a cheaper, smaller version.

Not that big, considering it's a lot faster, than usual computer (look at computer's size). And design is good, no extraz-shmextraz.
