Pretty is a relative word. Guys only like someone they think is pretty, even if to one person the girl is ugly, he could still think she's beautiful. I think guys go for a happy medium between personality and attractiveness. Obviously a guy isn't going to spend time with someone he can't stand.

With the skinny part, I believe every guy has his own preference. There's a point where skinny is taken too far, and there's a point where large is taken too far, but it varies for all guys. Maybe you're hanging out with the wrong guys.

As a guy, i'm not that shallow. Beauty IS only skin deep, whereas a good personality is the key to things. I don't care if a woman is tall & skinny, or 4 feet tall,frumpy, with a wart on the end of her nose. If she is a decent person, then looks should not matter, but these days, with all the Mags pushing the model look, what can you do. Unfortunately, guys have a BAD habit of being TOTAL WANKERS!!!

Unfortunately the first things most (not all) guys look for is the out side. What you wear, the people you hang around, what your body type is. If they like what they see, then they take the time to dig deeper and find out more about you on the inside...like your personality, interests, and hobbies. that's basically how a guy works though even I don't fully understand the mind of a guy lolz.

There is nothing wrong with being healthy, but skinny ain't always healthy, and being NOT "skinny" ain't always un healthy.

Haven't you ever heard that song, "I like big butts and I can not lie"? --Seriously how 'skinny' do you think those girls in the song could possible be?

Every guy is different, they all like different attributes, physical AND personal. Not all guys are shallow and eventually you'll find one.

I think alot of them think they have to go for that because of our society. Look at the models, cheerleaders, etc, you see where I'm going here. On the other hand some guys do get past the stereotype of what beauty is and will date someone because they are pretty inside and may have a couple extra pounds.

Yes pretty and No not skinny. Men like curvy women. Not those anorexic girls you see in couture magazines.
Off of first impressions ..yes guys are attracted by the physical features of a woman..but the personality of the woman keeps them.

well sure some do...but these guys tend to be jerks, and not very bright. They are very shallow...it's the nice and smart guys that are out there that don't care what a woman looks like, as long as she's got a good head on her shoulders. Im not saying being obese is good, cause it's not healthy...but lots of guys like some curves on a girl

Basically, yes. As for the inner person, not so.

Your assuming that the fact that I like them 'skinny' or 'athletic' I am therefore ignoring what someone is like on the inside.

You leap to conclusions far too quickly.

A lovely looking slim type blond and two friends, and they do look very nice ~ until they open their mouths and speak.

Yes i do. I know this cuz i'm a guy. Guys don't think like girls, guys are more eye dominant in when they are picking out a gf. Most of us do appreciate feelings, personality, and kindness but its not dominant 4 us. Having a hott gf is a priority to guys. You will discover this alot more when you get older. Mens brains are built to appreciate visual cues better than women. Think about it and it makes sense.... Women look for the caring well established man who can take care of them.. men want a good looking female THEY can take care of. Men get into dirty magazines more than women ane they like porno films. It explains alot when you think about it. That doesnt mean that a heavy girl cannot look good also though. I have seen tons of good lookin large women walkin around. Maybe you need a different hair cut, different outfit. But unfortunatly men do focus on appearances more than women do, just a fact of nature. Good luck!
