I can't tell you about your BB gun if you don't tell me about it....
Who made it, model number? That would help.
Tips:
Treat your BB gun as if it were a real firearm.
Take a hunter's safety course.
When shooting:
1 - always keep it pointed in a safe direction
2 - be sure of your target and what's behind your target, you may miss............
3 - never shoot yourself to see "how much it really hurts".
4 - wear safety glasses - don't poke an eye out.
5 - have fun and be a responsible shooter.

Brookey, J.D. is right about the liability your parents could face particularly if you live in the city limits. 45 years ago hunting birds in the neighborhood was no big deal just don't shoot somebodies window or eye out. And you got as close as possible. With todays BB guns 25 yards shouldn't be a problem. I doubt you can hit them any farther out than that.

Your Personal Tip of the Day.........Shooting birds for no apparent reason is ILLEGAL, in mant States and Cities.. In many States you can get charged as a Juvenile with criminal cruelty to animals, and your folks be held responsible and for paying a large fine as a result of YOUR actions. I suggest you limit yourself to tin cans and paper targets, and leave the birds alone.
Why according to your past answers would you want to give advice to another and suggest nursing a Bluejay back to health, then turn around and kill other birds?

BB guns do not have that great of accuracy.... bb's are little and round but at 100 mteres or less you could get a bird, if your bb gun takes pellets, shoot the pellets.... if your into bird sniping try a 22 rifle with a scope, you will love that. :)

i dont know about killing but i have a garden and i shoot the squirrels that dig in my pots and garden trying to burry their nuts in there. but i do it to protect my plants not for the fun of injuring another animal... i would recomend getting into airsoft. or fillinf a bottle with water, tying it to a rope and swing it over a branch. you can shoot at the bottle.
