You probably just had a small infection in your throat, like strept. It will sting because that is what the infection does and sometimes it'll feel almost unbearable to swallow, depending on the severity of the sore throat. If you're taking antibiotics then it is definately just a bacterial infection that will clear up if you take your full course of antibiotics prescribed. If after taking all of your antibiotics, you still have a sore throat then I'd be concerned.

If you want to ease the pain of the sore throat, you can always use a throat spray for sore throats or suck on sore throat drops, that always helps.

Prolly strept throat.

Take NSAID or SAID plus antibiotic. Take plenty clear warm water.
