sorry but photoshop is too expensive for me, are there more reasonable editors out there for a novice? thanks

download picasa from google. i like it a lot and its free.

Irfanview is the free program I first started with. Gimp is an other free program that's good.
For the money, I would recommend Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 or Ulead PhotoImpact. They are excellent programs at a value price. Excellent capabilities. They are a fraction of the price of Photoshop. Try their 30 day free trails to see what you think. Have fun!

Hello, you should consider using GIMP ( http://www.gimp.org ). Its an opensource program that works very well and is absolutely free for downloading from its website.
I use it and it works vvery well
