Can anyone give me a list of congenital defects that breeders usually give a guarentee with? As many as you know.

Debilitating Hip displaysia and Cardiomyopathy. To me those are the 2 big ones. Everything can be inherited and some things caused by poor diet and to much exercise and injuries and vaccine damage.. A breeder can not be expected to guarantee every aspect of a dogs health. There are to many diseases/defects and breeders are not god. Dogs are living creatures, not Chevy trucks.. Some buyers expect it all covered but as far as I am concerned they can look somewhere else!

Depends on the breed. There are hereditary conditions, like hip dysplasia and eye problems.
Congenital defects are usually defects that are present at birth...like a cleft palate. Many congenital defects require the pup to be euthanized. Umbilical hernias are common and not generally fatal.
So, are you asking about congenital defects, or hereditary conditions...which are usually what breeders give a health guarantee for.
And what breed. I have Newfs and we guarentee for SAS..a specific heart defect, but that is not a factor in other breeds.

I think that the list would be different for each breed. The most common guarantee would probably be hip/elbow dyplaisa, and regular puppy health. To get a full list, you will have to contact the breeder you want a pup from.
