Any time you get a new dog it is a good idea to get him checked out by a vet.
Only a vet will be able to tell what is going on as the symptoms are vague but he sounds sick.

Feed him the same food he was getting. Sudden food changes can cause bad reactions. For safety sake get him to a vet for a good general once-over. Make sure there is no underlying illness.

Give him a bit of space.

Hand feed him treats occasionally -- hot dog bits or dried liver treats work wonders.

He has to be healthy and reassured that you are the source of good experiences.

Change his food gradually by 25% per week to the type you want him to live on.

Go slow with him. All will be well.

I think it is a medical problem more than a depression problem. There might be something wrong with his stomach or digestive tract. Check him out with a vet. Don't get too close to him, though, he might bite. I also think that maybe this person you got him from knew about it and just cheated you. Find out what's wrong and check out the original owner's background.

Take him to the vet, he might have gotten into like a poisonous plant or something or it could be just anxiety. Poor Baby! I'm sorry to hear about this!:(

Bring him to the vet and make sure the dog food isn't on the recall list.
