Yes. My son has a rare abdominal sarcoma, stage IV. When he was first diagnosed two years ago I was incredibly sad . . devastated really . . and I recall being in his hospital room and hearing laughter out in the halls. I thought . . how can anyone be happy in this place. I really didn't think I'd every be happy or ever not be afraid again. It is very traumatizing to hear the words that your kid has an aggressive and rare cancer. However, we did learn to cope with the fear and the stress and believe it or not . .we found ways to be happy and smile and laugh again. He has since spent many days in the hospital and we are well acquainted with the wonderful staff. And, when he is an inpatient . . all the nurses and doctors know him now . . and he does spend much of the time laughing and joking around with them. They take great care of him.

He is still battling cancer and yes, there are times when you feel the grip of fear sweep down on you . .but it isn't all grim and gloomy. My son and I are very close . .closer than we ever would have been had he not gotten cancer. And we have fun, talk, laugh, and enjoy each others company. You learn to concentrate on all that is good . .and not to worry about what has not happened or might never happen.

i think that at one point or another in all our lives we will know of someone who has had caner or worse has died from cancer. i have brain cancer now and the worst part is that it is the result of treatment i recived 20 yrs ago for leukemia. what a crappy thing to do to someone. as if treatment the first time wasnt enough. cancer as a whole is crappy. it is not like everyone is jumping up and down or waiting in line to get it, or the people who are standing around are thinking that "gee i wish i knew someone with cancer" really silly question. i hope that you find what ever answer you were looking for.

Yes, me. It is apparently all gone now (thyroid cancer). The only thing that sucks is having to go back for the checkups and always worrying about getting it again somewhere else. Especially because I have a little 2 year old daughter. I just try to think positively.

Ummmm, lets see, me, 2 sisters, brother, mother, 4 aunts, 3 uncles, grandfather, few cousins........

I come from a family of fighters, and while some have succumbed, we don't regard it as an automatic death sentence, and we have lost family members to a whole range of other causes as well, heart disease, strokes, alzheimer's, car accidents..............

Everyone has to die sometimes, of something, we all need to learn to acept this and do our best to make sure we don't waste whatever time we have. None of us have time in our lives to feel sad!
