NO. Doing so violates your License agreement with Dell and Microsoft.

You shouldn't have any problem installing it if it is a regular Windows cd and not a dell recvery cd although when you get to the point after installation when you have to go to windows update and validate the installation you may be told the serial is in use.

Usually when you purchase a copy of windows you can use the license a certain number of times (I believe it's 3)..then you have to call Microsoft for a new key... which they might give you at no charge if you explain you had to reinstall a few times on the same computer... although be careful because they may disable the older key :P

I generally have no problem with reinstalling although I did have to call them once and as I said they gave me a new key no charge.

ps.. you absolutely want to be able to be automatically downloading updates.. as they have security updates that are quite necessary... it also is a violation of the agreement so it would be illegal..

Good Luck

Use the serial number from the sticker on the laptop ( if you activate the same number on two computers it will not work!)

Not legally. You might try and load it on the laptop, then when MS asks tell them you replaced the Motherboard. Of course this might lead to neither operating system working if they find out and blacklist the serial number.

it is illegal to install windows on different computers with the same serial number
if you do, then microsoft will figure it out using windows genuine advantage and then no longer support either computer

well its not going to work right for you if you use it on a non dell computer as it is made for a dell and more than likely has an oem emblem on it so it will not install properly anyhow
