Hi. There is no day that is a "best day," however, most weddings are held on Saturday. It has been that way for decades, simply so that guests can travel to and from the wedding on the weekend.
There is certainly nothing wrong with having a wedding on a Sunday. Yes, I have been to one. The problem being.....most people work on Monday, so if you are having the big dancing thing until late....most people will be leaving early in the night because they have to work.
If you were to do something simple in the afternoon....that would not be a problem! Actually, it would be really different and unique.
If you want a church service, however, that is another problem with having it on a Sunday. You would need to have a mid to late afternoon service.....but it certainly is possible!! I work at a Lutheran Church as a secretary and we have had a couple of weddings that were on Sunday.
One nice thing is....if you live in a city, many venues are cheaper on a Sunday than on a Saturday and you will be able to have your pick of dates.
Good luck!

Weddings are probably held on a Saturday because you have Sunday off to recover. It would be difficult for those to stay too long if they have work on a Monday if was to be held on a Sunday. I have heard of many wedding being held on a Sunday but it's mostly due to religious beliefs. I would think that a Saturday would be the majorities preference. In saying all that, it is up to you and when you want your special day to be.

I've been to 3 Sunday weddings in the last year or so - I thought it was a bit odd to be honest. They were all on bank holiday weekends so people had the monday off to recover so not too bad, and I believe the receptions were cheaper with it not being a day they would normally get a booking. It cost a fortune getting home in a taxi for the guests though.
I still think Saturday is the best, my best friend is getting married on a friday and a lot of her guests either can't get the day off work or have children in school so can only come to the evening.

My bf's parents just went to a wedding yesterday (Sunday), so yeah, it is done. I am actually considering getting married on a Sunday myself, although I'm not sure because of the next day being a work day for many people (as a lot of people here have mentioned, it may be hard on them).

I've been to two Sunday wedddings. However both were done when the following Monday was a holiday. (4th of July, Labor Day etc.) It made it easier because most people had a three day weekend to travel to and from the wedding.

I have never been to one, but I am sure that you can have one if you want. I doubt that you will be able to have one in the church since that is the day that most churches hold services (and some may be opposed to anything else happening on that holy day). If you plan on marrying outside of the church you should be okay. I would make sure that you plan your wedding for mid afternoon to give those people who do attend churh time to go and worship.

Sunday is considered the holy day, so it should be appropriate to have a wedding on a Sunday

We are getting married on a sunday. 6th of July 2008... so now you know one person...We are being married by a celebrant in our own garden...But I guess if you are religious or want a church wedding then it might be a problem since most churches have normal services on a sunday.

I think it's perfectly fine to have one on Sunday. Besides, people are usually more busy on Saturdays and willing to skip church on Sunday for a wedding. and then you have one extra day to prepare =)

Although people might be at the wedding a LONG time and the next day they have to go to work...so yeah...and drinking....hangover....work....not a good mix
