Looking for old military parachute cord/rope/line?

Question

It was used in the past like maybe the vietnam era?
its flat not round. I am looking for a certain kind, my dog training club has a long line made out of the stuff and its the best we have EVER seen. I am trying to find were to buy more of it. Ive check army suplus stores around here and noone has it.

550 cord is the suspension lines used for attaching the canopy to the harness. Make great bootlaces, but wouldn't work well as a leash.

What you're describing is the static line. It's yellow in color, flat, tubular nylon, something like 5000 lbs test. The static line is actually attached to the "D-bag," or deployment bag. Try searching for either a T10 or MC1 D-bag with static line...

Try the paracord/ "550 cord" like stated above. It comes in several colors (the outside casing). If you want it flat, you pull the "guts" out of the center ( you'll see about a dozen white polyester cords in the center). It comes in various lengths, up to 500+ feet I think. It's also pretty cheap, and as close to what you're talking about as I can think of. The really old stuff you might be talking about came in white only I think. I've only seen it once or twice. It's very rare. Keep trying the surplus stores or online. I would argue that the new stuff is a better product and would suit your needs if you modify it like I described.

I am older and although I don't try to look younger I do still think younger...I don't want to give it up yet for a long time. Something younger people, in my case girls, should realize just because we are older doesn't mean we can't be loving and affectionate. We enjoy younger people especially when we still think young....it does not mean we are pedophiles either.

I am surprised to note that you are not yet aware of the fact that the parachute cord that you are pointing at had been already discontinued as it had become outdated and unpractical to be used in the modern utility services. We have nowadays much better solutions readily available to replace the same.

when i need to buy supplies for skydiving, be it t-shirts, parachutes, containers or other pieces of equipment and supplies I go to www.paragear.com. you should be able to by any type of line that you want.

might not be the right stuff, but I saw paracord at the local
Army-Navy store.
