You were born here. Once you are British you are always British. Frankly as far as I am concerned an Australian is British as of right if they so wish. Unfortunately our mealy mouthed government is less than honest about this preferring to such up to any foreign government that makes a big noise.

Where is the fight ? If you are British you can live in the UK. I believe there is an agreement with Australia, so you are British when in the UK and Australian when in Australia and you can travel in third countries with either passeport...
- don't enter a country with one passeport and present the other one when you leave, though. It happened to me and caused some mayhem as to why I could leave a country I didn't enter LOL - I'm a dual national too, although not the same countries as you.

if you intend to stay in the country whose passport and nationality you hold, i quess you are more than welcome, dont you?
your GB passport is allowing you to do just that - stay here! No point in fighting!
