Every summer when it is really humid out, my mom and I will get itchy bumps (hives) on the tops of our hands and between our knuckles. It started when I was around 6. We have gone to a pediatrician, an allergy doctor, and a dermatologist and they weren't sure either. They just prescribed us hydrocortizone, but too much can cause blood poisoning and I get nervous when I use it. Do you know what this is and what I can do about it?

If it happens in the summer, it's probably an allergic reaction to a certain plant or pollen. I used to get it all the time when I was younger and still do to a point. I got allergy testing done and found out that I'm allergic to 50% of the most common weeds in my area! I didn't like using hydrocortisone either. I found that if you mix two drops of lavender essential oil (assuming you're not allergic to it!) to ten parts witch hazel (you can buy it at walgreens) and apply it to the rash, it helps. Other than that, I just have to suffer through the summer with Benadryl! I hope you find something to help you!

Since it happens in the summer, it could be any number of things that are in the air during the summer time- including heat and humidity itself, in some extremely rare cases.

Try to find out what you're allergic to, and either get it out of your environment or- as a last resort- move. You and your mom do both sound miserable.

Good luck!
