I am stunned that someone would actually say and believe that. I happen to know that kids are being taught lies in the textbooks about evolution, in the sense theories are presented as fact to them (that is abuse) and the fact that discipline is rarely allowed and bullies get to pick on kids mercilessly in school because everyone fears discipline, that is abuse. But I never realized people think that giving someone hope in eternity through Jesus Christ and his incredible love for them would be considered abuse. That just tells me the world is completely upside down and Jesus is coming soon. what do you think?

Really humburt I am delusional? then why pray tell did my daughter's school psychologist advise me to let her at 14 go to houses where drugs were being used and teen sex was going on? She said I should "let my daughter make her own choices" I said "she can make her own choices when she is 18. By the way many of her friends wound up in Jail or Pregnant, she is 23 now a responsible working citizen and did not have a child out of wedlock. I think you are delusional sir thinking kids do not need God or his ways.

The atheists and anti-christian claim to believe to be tolerant. they believe they have to silence christians and keep anything bible from being taught to children.Allowing moslem children to have complete access to public school facilities,sex-ed,lack of discipline, evolution,PC history, lowering of test scores, etc.all are part of what they call "academic freedom".
When Jesus and the bible were in schools how many school shootings and school lockdowns were there?

I think teaching superstitious mythology as fact is woefully misguided and sometimes cruel depending upon what level and intensity of indoctrination and 'godfearing' and 'anti-science' is being visited on the kids.
I also get annoyed that people equate discipline only with religion, as if superstition is the only way to teach discipline.
Lowering standards of discipline is not a religious issue, it's a disciplinary/authority issue.
If kids are not being taught to respect their parents and their teachers/elders, there is a very real problem.
There is also a problem if kids are being taught to be 'Warriors of God', and they are intolerant of others, superstitious of anything and everything that questions their faith (it's the 'devil'!!!)
I would rather my children be raised in a strict secular school noted for excellence, than a religious school in the Bible Belt or Saudi.
Some religious schools maintain excellent success in a wide curricula, but we've all heard kids whose grammar, spelling and understanding of science and biology is at least 4 years behind their ability to quote OT...
No easy answers. I just want to see excellent schools, schools that excel in education and discipline, and I also want theism to be taught as theism, and science to be taught as science.
People who require their kids to be strictly religious can homeschool or send to a religious school.
We all have tremendous resources on the internet to read biographies of ex-Christians who were raised in Christian (or other religious) households and felt abused. Their stories (one would imagine) would offer the best answers to this question.

For you God doesn't exist. Now we can turn that argument around - if He does exist then it's an abuse not to teach about Him. Without knowledge we are blind, if you walk across the road with a blindfold on you'll end up in the ditch (at best).

Girl You're doing the right thing ! God commands us to train up a child In the ways of the Lord. This Is the very reason I homeschool my child. He leads a very normal life except he can ALL his work In 3 hours and that's taking a 30 minute break. He can use his own bathroom eat his own food. I don't have to worry about him catching every illness that goes around. Plus he's taught that God created the world and ALL that's In It. I've seen some of the school text books and they're full of satan's lies. I couldn't be a teacher In todays' school system. I am bold and believe completely In the Bible & prayer. I couldn't bend or bow and deny myself to teach according to their political agenda. I'd feel like I was selling my soul.

i don't like it. i mean some ppl take religion like wayy over the top and force it on the kids. they should be allowed(at a mature age) to choose their own religion and to live how they want. i'm atheist. plain and simple, i'm 15 and i made that choice for myself when i was about 13 and i've finally decided that that's that, it's finale, i'm atheist. it didn't change much about who i am as a person, i didn't sprout devil horns or anything, and everything's the same. i think that bullies get off because usually the kids bn bullied don't fight back or tell cause no one want to be tattle tell. Give em some backbone you won't have a problem. i don't see how it's abuse though to teach a kid religion. Evolution i'll disagree and i think it should be put back in(we couldn't get into it much in life science or biology, and i'm in honors classes, so we do more like that, get into stuff). If the parent or child disagrees maybe they couls make it optional, or just slap on a sticker saying it's a therory that not all agree with(i do though, i love science). erm, hasn't the sticker already been done, sorry, just got into stuff like that, don't really remember.... w/e.... it's not abuse though....
Abuse is when the kid's bn like beaten or forced to learn it or mentally endangered.... like telling them everything they do is a sin.... it's not abuse to teach them stuff, and in the same way those are therires about evoklution, well, it's therories pretty much on the bible cause no one back then wrote it down, it got through by word of mouth till some dude with no life decided to write em all down(i say that cause it musta taken foever, not to be like disrespectful of em or anything, lol)
How do you know the bible is true at all or that some dude din't just write it all down and say it was sent from ur god to try to rule you? now i wouldn't ask this to someone, but i know ppl who would. i'm not that bad about it, honest. but it makes a good point i think. and like whoever said 2+2=4? you can argue all day, change the value of the numbers and it won't, well, if teaching the bible is changing the vaules is wrong then maybe it sohouldn't be done?
.....why don't they just go to church? lol. i'll shut up now, i confused myself.... ^_^

It crosses the line when children are brought up in a religion and taught that its the only way, and arent given any other choices.
"But I never realized people think that giving someone hope in eternity through Jesus Christ and his incredible love for them would be considered abuse."
What about all the threats of hell, the fear of sinning?

sisterzeal, this should not take you by surprise, after all the bible clearly says that in the end-times people will reject sound doctrine, not only that but also they will call that which is evil good and that which is good evil. Yes it is mind boggling that people have more of a problem with people teaching Christian principles like loving your neighbor as yourself, forgiveness and other very excellent way (all of Gods ways are excellent) but they do not seem to have problems with their children being taught lies and half truths. But Jesus told us these days were coming so rejoice as the day is approaching soon. Peace to you.

Those who actually assert that teaching a child about God is abuse are either insecure in their own beliefs, or have been through some traumatizing experience connected with religion themselves.
The truth is that children who have been taught the love of God grow up knowing that they are important. They have more self-esteem than the poor children who are taught that there is nothing waiting for them but hungry worms.
Anybody who has half a brain can obviously see what has been happening to our schools since we kicked God out of the halls of learning, to deny it is to be willfully ignorant. As you say, the world is completely upside down...and yes, I do believe that Jesus is coming soon. In fact, I have felt as if He were coming to claim His Kingdom ever since I was a little girl.
God bless you!

Abuse comes in many forms, but the worst one is religion, to teach a child about hope and eternal life is nothing more than religious programing brainwashing at it's worst, If you want to teach your children then teach them spirituality and the spirit world they came from, but leave out the Jesus God thing because they will grow up to hate you not love you. PEACE! be with you on your new found knowledge.

It's not abuse. Parents have a responsibility to teach their children, especially about God. To the contrary we can see the results of neglecting teaching children about God to the detriment of both the child and parents and many times innocent others. Also, providing guidelines and boundaries are very important as a child often depends on a parent to help them, even though they will often push against the boundaries, they will still respect and love the parents who do this.
