I occasionally copy a bible verse or two (not massive) as a backup for my answer to a question. I agree that lengthy cut and pastes are a waste of time as few if any will read the entire thing.

Wisdom comes from the bible as it is the inspired Word of God. I usually look for short, sweet passages when I quote it though. It's a softer touch when dealing with people who are not Christians. I would only expect to bore someone with a long passage if they aren't open to understanding it.

The whole point of being a Christian is that as far as they're concerned, the Bible already has the answers. If Christians had minds of their own, they wouldn't be Christians.
Still, it's worth reading the Bible, if only to be able to slap Christians upside their pointy heads with quotes that contradict what they've just said.

We quote the Bible because it's the Word of God - the word of whom we follow and love and honor. If you are seeking an answer, and I assume you are looking for a true answer, then we Christians go to the 'true' Word - the Holy Scriptures. We repeat what we have learned from God! Why do you, when asked, 'What is 2 plus 2..... do you answer 4? Where did you get your information? Why do you quote what you've learned? Don't you have a mind .... to answer questions with?
You see, our mind gets 'educated'. And education comes out of our mouth everytime we open it. Don't be so offended - just read the answer and learn something.

Possibly because christians are weak and feel quoting the bible, because they believe its gods word, gives them strengh in their point. It doesn't in reality....more a case of phycological comfort.

I actually wonder why people answer questions posed about GOD with their own opinion. Thats like asking me why do I think the sun is hot and I give my own answer instead of opening a text book that explains why its hot. God's Word has His Answer.....so Im going to give you a direct quote of what He said regarding your question.
If you preface your question with, in your opinion, or 'if you were God'..fine...then my creative mind enters but if you say "why did God...?" Im going to the text and in most cases , then expound on it with my own commentary from study.
